Just go live in Hommlet ... a typical house entry there:

This all sounds reasonable. Although unskilled 2sp per day is harsh.

By my rough conversion guidelines, that is about 20 dollar per day.

I hope those unskilled people are learning as apprentices mostly, mainly funded by their parents and become skilled after doing their job for a few month.

Most generous. I think Rome had something like $600 a year average income.

Aware. Golds a lot more common in D&D.
Yes.

When doing this math I look how much a pint of beer costs. 4cp. I just paid around 4€. Which is around $4.

Going by that metric, 2gp is around 200€ per day. 1k per week. 4k per month. 50k per year. About right for a am average monthly income around here (before taxes).

Of course, if you live somewhere, where $4 buy you far more than a beer and the average income is way lower, this needs to be adjusted.

Cheap beer.;) Small glass or something nasty here.

The unskilled guys are going to have to work for obvious villains who offer a pittance more that allows them to eat and drink just enough not to die or be swayed into a cult for two hots and a cot. This is why the world is always in peril.
Valmar the Defenestrator may be strict, but he offers a hireling dental plan as well as a paid discretionary day.
