D&D 5E 5e EPIC MONSTER UPDATES

Does anyone know how to use the downloads section on this forum? I want to add pdf files of the monsters, but I don't know how to do it.

I have added a primarily PDF compilation to the downloads section. There is a link to the download in the OP.

Currently this only contains the intro and the gods. I hope to have the remainder uploaded by the end of the weekend.

I've updated the downloadable PDF to include everything currently in this thread. However, with any luck that will change by the end of the day!

I finally got around to posting the Arch-devil, Lord of the Third: Mammon. I recieved tow submissions for this one (thank you very much szymanski808 and MechaTarrasque) so I tried to combine the two with fairly good results I think. I also wanted to take this opportunity to explore some "Domain" concepts. Since each of the Nine rules a layer of hell I thought it would be a good chance to explore domain actions (like lair actions for a whole plane) and the traditional home plane power up. Let me know what you think.

FYI, I plan to do this for all the Nine, so although I have submissions for them all already, it will take me some time to get them posted.

I like him and the domain actions. I pity the party that tries to rob him.

Sure. It shouldn't be too difficult to add in after the fact, thou.

True, and more prudent as the more I see from power gamers the more i want to tweak the progression some more. I am thinking more HP are needed in general. So adding a conversion guide or including two CRs or whatever should probaly wait until everything is finalized.

Sorry for the lack of new posts lately (I actually have a lot of content in the que too). Unfortunately I've been dealing with a bit of a personal crisis that will take another 4-8 weeks to resolve (I think/hope). After which I should be back to frequent posting of epic threats.

However, another issue that has slowed me down is the fact that I have had a shift in my thoughts on epic monster design. After discussing high level character/party and monster interactions/design issues I believe some on my original assumptions are a bit off. This realization, coupled with the issue of relating to the official CR, has lead me to investigate the idea of bringing back the "elite" and "solo" concepts from 4e. The general concept would be that an elite monster would have 2x HP, 2 turns (each with a reaction and bonus action), & 2x XP, but the same CR (the CR applies to each "turn"). This would generally replace legendary monsters, but I don't see dropping them completely. You have standard, legendary, elite and solo monsters at your disposal, with a lot of design flexibility to achieve what I want for each monster.

I am currently planning on submitting Glaysa and Levistus in the current format and then start submitting some revisions of the old monsters with the "elite" concept and see what people think.

Dave,

I hope your situation improves/continues to improve.

It will, it revolves around getting the addition/renovation of my house finished - which has been a 2-year process I'm finally approaching the finish line. Just need to prioritize getting it done. Once that is taken care of everything should fall into place.
