OOC: lol. First crit fail. I love this game.

As Dariana nocks her arrow and aims, her foot slips on a wet patch on the ground, and she falls. The arrow goes wild and hits one of the pods right next to them.

The pod opens, revealing a beautiful white and red flower, each petal a foot long. The yellow parts of the flower begin to glow slightly, and the flower points itself to the sky.

"Umm, I'm Jordy, not Zivar. Zivar's over there." Jordy indicates the gnome. "He's taller than me."

"Zivar is right. I've never seen such pods and they are too regular. This reeks of a trap, natural or not, but a trap nonetheless. Be careful, Mocking Bird."

Zivar smiles.

"You still agree with Zivar, because I agree with Jody. I am glad that I am not the only one that is not sure on all the new names yet."

As he says that the arrow lets loose and opens a pod. Zivar flinches, and his tone is uneasy "For what it's worth."

He puts a little more distance between himself and the pod before focusing his gaze on mim and this church. Looking for anything that might identify this building.

OOC: Investigate [roll0]
I'd in hopes to pay attention to anything that can be seen to identify the building, or any designs in the stained glass window.

"We don't know what sorcery is this. I Suggest we take cover as if that flower will explode or shoot at us. Better safe than sorry and all that."

Following his own suggestion, Quentin takes cover behind a tree, waiting to see how things develop. At least, he started to, before careless archer ran toward the thing.
"No, wait!" he runs after the elf pointing the trident toward the glowing flower. He intends to push the flower stalk away from them using trident tines as a tool without puncturing the plant.

Dariana chooses to stop and speak her mind. "This isn't the Quentin and his crew show, I have as much right to put myself at risk as you do to cower behind trees. I'm frankly sick of you barking orders. You are not in charge here. I intend to go through the clearing, and check out the other side of the chapel. You and the chicken might want to consider that bravery might just be something the academy wants."

OOC: Dariana and her two hit points are likely soon to be parted. THEN the paranoia will be justified. :)

Mim turns on his heels and opens up on the elf using the captains voice, from the ship."Want to be brave? Go off on your own and do it! What if that flower exploded in toxic spores and killed us all. There is a fine line between bravery and stupidity. Being brave is stealing a chunk of bread from Max the mad. Stupid is shooting arrows at unknown flowers that are bigger than you!

OOC: Kenku are not capable of creative thought, so they can only speak by mimicking. That doesn't just mean mimicking voices, but also words. So, if he wants to mimic the captain, he can only say what he's heard the captain say. We can assume Mim has heard many things over his life, so you have some freedom on what he says in any given situation. In the end, though, I'm going to let you say what you want, otherwise it might just get tedious for you and I don't want that. Just some food for thought.

Any pod that is touched, including the ones hit by the arrow and touched by the trident, opens and glows, each flower's petals a different design.

As Dariana heads towards the Chapel, Mezzra sticks close by her side. The goliath, looking smugly at Raven, sets out with them. Raven rolls her eyes, but looks derisively at Quentin, and sets out towards the chapel as well.

Korlin seems curious about the flowers, and walks over to one, inspecting it closely. "How does it glow? Is there magic involved, or something in the soil?"

A moment later, the pods closest to the flowers begin to open, revealing flowers just as pretty, each with a different design. Soon, the pods nearest those begin to open, and soon, like a wave generating from that first flower, a chain reaction spreads throughout the field, opening all the flowers, all of them glowing in different colors, lighting up the field in a rainbow of lights.

By the time Dariana and the others with her make it to halfway to the chapel, they are in a field of rainbow colors. The chapel door opens, revealing a slightly past middle aged man in soft teal robes. He waves to the initiates, waving them over.
