The list was highly suspect yes. Then the pic and the mention of bleeding neck...well, I won't say it's cinched, because I could see a clever GM laying out a breadcrumb trail to mess with folks...but yeah. It's looking pretty Twilight in here. :)

I wouldn't put it past Quickleaf to pull a fast one and just have a pale hemophiliac hanging around. In character though, would any of us even know enough (or anything) about vampires to be suspicious? I know most of us aren't hearing any of this, but Lal is in the middle of it. He's pretty well traveled. Is Lal getting concerned?

I'm wearing my evil DM grin now. B-)

Can any of the rest of us hear this, IC?

Nope. The rest of you are with Hadia's sons Naji and Na'im & the janni Usqual. The chamber with the water-bearer is much deeper into the caves of the caravanserai.

The Persuasion check Ancalagon made was to determine how much access Hadia would permit to the "water-bearer." I should have mentioned that but was pressed for time when posting; since he just made the Difficulty 13, I determined that would allow him and one other.

Such a suspicious mind ;) Actually, yeah, that's totally something I would do.

While your PCs can't hear any of this currently, generally I think it's safe to assume you can apply whatever monster knowledge you have as a player that you want to apply. I mean, your PCs are 11th level. What's great about having a group of experienced players is that you have lots of D&D monster lore to draw from; so the fun becomes trying to guess what I as DM am up to (since I re-flavor and tweak stuff all the time to suit the setting/game) and to find a way to portray your PC's knowing a given piece of information in a way that's convincing/entertaining according to what you envision their past looks like.

Generally, that hyper-vigilant "does my PC know what I know about the monsters" makes sense at lower levels, but I feel comfortable letting go of it at higher levels.

I would go as far as saying that having the player and the characters being suspicious in equal amount is pretty plausible at this point - this *is* dodgy as heck, but we don't *know* so we have to play along.
