The eldritch knight is not at all the same.

I'm not sure if the bladesinger "should have" won this competition, but I agree with you on this one - sure they are both "gishes", but they play extremely differently. I had a "one shot" (3 sessions) with a level 5 EK, and it was fun (as a side note, I added more magic with fey touched and I think it "helps" the EK). I've also GMed a 10ish-session adventure with a level 6 bladesigner, and they indeed are very very different beasts.
