Unless you're a caster.
Here's the wizard's options at first level...

Do you think the system might be starting to collapse under it's own weight?
Not sure what you're getting at, since that supports my point that casters get their abilities differently than other classes.

Spells are spells. They aren't expected to be anything other than stand alone rules exceptions. You could make fighters work more like casters, but they'd play a lot differently -- most likely in a way that felt more magical, like the Bo9S.

As I said, you could do everything as feats, but I really don't think that'd work out well for a variety of reasons.

4E hit something off a middle ground, but something about it didn't resonate with enough people.

That leaves full classes, which I think add a lot of weight because each is expected to have a fairly unique set of abilities that fill its levels. What might work would be something like 1E Oriental Adventures, that provided a complete new list of classes. I'm not suggesting that there are several variant PHBs. But, there could be relatively focused theme books that are intended to be included our diagnosed as a whole. The problem would be having something with enough depth to warrant a full rule set but focused enough that it would be more than a big list of more random options.

For someone who is ambivalent you are fighting awfully hard against it, so what else were we suppose to think?

Have I? Stating a simple opinion... I don't think it's been published because I don't think it's popular enough with 5e fans... is fighting awfully hard against warlords? Really? IMO, it seems as if the warlord fans fight awfully hard against anything that isn't full support that the class be published by WotC...

Except stating a simple opinion doesn't require the bearth of posts you've made.

Disagree... again if there was enough demand the "butthurt" wouldn't matter in the bigger picture since ultimately it's about money.

I agree with that.

But, that also ignores a lot of recent history.

WotC has managed, in fairly short order, to reunify the hobby to a huge extent. From the very fractured fanbase during 4e, we're pretty much back to a large chunk of the hobby playing 5e, a couple of smaller chunks playing Pathfinder and 3e and then everyone else.

They have absolutely no interest in rocking the boat. Why would they? There is no upside for them. If they put out a warlord that warlord fans dislike, then they've just pissed off both sides. If they put out a warlord that warlord fans like, the other side will STILL hate it and we'll see all sorts of vitriol get spilled all over the place. And there's no way that they will gain more goodwill than they lose.

And, frankly, they have no need to do so. There's still a mountain of earlier edition material to mine for ideas and concepts. No one gives a damn if they produce a Favored Soul or a Kensai. No one gets "insulted" by adding a Lore Wizard. People just don't have any really strong feelings on the issue.

Warlords, OTOH, hit all sorts of buttons. There's no possible upside for WotC to rock the boat at this time. There's no need. Warlord fans have proven they'll still buy books even if there is no warlord in them. So, warlords are completely ignored. Not included on any polls, not talked about, treated as if they do not exist.

The uncomfortable truth here is that the edition warriors won. They've managed to force everyone else to comply with their views of the game and WotC is too scared to rock the boat. They have no interest in re-opening those edition war wounds and are far more interested in unifying the hobby under a single, 5e, banner.

Wait so now you're the arbitrator of limits on posts about a subject on a discussion forum... lol...ok.
Oh look, unfounded exaggeration.
No, I draw the fact that a simple statement doesn't take more than a post from the fact that you made said statement. In half a post.

Dude, you do realize that you're trying to limit conversation on warlords right? You're trying to tell warlord fans to shut up because there aren't enough of us, so, we should just go away already. There's a bit too much irony here. Note, by the way, he's not trying to limit the number of your posts, he's saying that for someone who claims to not care about the issue, you're spending an awful lot of time talking about it.

The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

I haven't told anyone to shut up... the hyperbole is really getting tired and it's kind of beneath you... dude.

Hyperbole?
Aren't you the one throwing accusations about people trying to limit others say around when they point out a simple point takes only a line or two?

No I'm pointing out that you don't determine how much word count I should spend on any discussion, regardless of my position, on these boards...
