A 10 level Prestige Class that gets 1d6 Sneak Attack damage every level: Unbalanced?

Is the 10-level PrC that gives Sneak Attack every level (see below) unbalanced?

Yeah. I posted before I noticed the connection to the other thread.

There's still no way in Hell I would allow this-- 10d6 at 20th level is already more than sufficient.
Well, there's already a way to get this much SA using published classes, but it involves taking one level in ten different PrCs that give SA at level 1, which has its own problems (+0 BAB for your efforts, hard to qualify).

I agree though, significantly too strong.

...Rogue 10/Assassin 10, which, in my opinion, should be the character build with the greatest Sneak Attack potential.

I share this opinion, but as has already been stated, by cherry-picking "roguish" PrCs you can actually out Sneak Attack that build. Since you seem to agree that it should have the highest potential, why are you seemingly averse to it getting more than 5 SA over 10 levels? Or was it simply the implication that you got SA every level too...'preposterous' has been thrown around a few times.

Regardless, I have posted a more-finished version of what I started in the other thread. The base build has 7 SA dice, but there is a potential to get 8 (with no death attack, no fancy poison abilities, no evasion or Hide in Plain Sight, and none of those paths have spellcasting).

Again, the idea is that this is mainly an NPC PrC. Most PCs tend to be adventurers, often traveling around or 'questing' whereas assasins tend to operate in the same area (territory) over time to gain notoriety and fame for what they do. To further make this evident, I added a requirement that you must kill at least 2 people, again for no better reason than to further yourself as an assasin (which can include fame, training, and wealth) before you can gain each additional assasin level. Level 10 requires 3 murders, bringing each level 10 assasin's grand total to 20 kills, minimum.

While this might technically be true I think it be hard to first find 10 prestige classes that did that without going to a have dozen different books, qualifying for all the classes in time, and lastly someone getting the DM to let you do it. :D

One has to fiurst remeber all prestige classes by definition are optional.

I once let a pixie character cherry-dip until she had 13d6 SA because all the PrCs fit her character at the time she took them. It was a big mistake.

Way overpowered.

Problem is as a dm I can compensate by having non Sneak attackable foes in the game.

But now this character goes from the uber death monkey to utter combat crap. There's no middle ground...which is not good for a party IMO.
