A 13th-level Dungeon/Wilderness Crawl for D&D 5E

Hot on the heels of Kobold Press, Alea Publishing Group is the latest company to publish a D&D 5E adventure. At 93 pages, The Shadowed Eye of Halagar is one of the largest yet. It's available in PDF, and a hardcover version is apparently coming soon. A high level dungeon/wilderness crawl, this is designed for 13th-16th level characters, and also includes new monsters and magic items.

Find it here.

Deep in the Shadkhanim Mountains, beyond the Valley of Dormant Fire, a gold shadow dragon covets the great wealth of Halagar and a several hundred year old secret that led the dwarven people to mine the shadow realm.

The Shadowed Eye of Halagar is a vast dungeon and wilderness crawl with over 90 pages filled with new villians and monsters; exciting scenarios that takes 5th Edition rules to the edge!

This product provides Players and Game Masters with the following for thrilling play:

Anyone who purchases this, understand that the Feudal Lords Campaign Setting is very dark fantasy. Even the Adventurer's Guide(essentially the campaign book) has a decapitated head on it and within it. It has roots in real-world horror with a touch of the Kingdom Death tabletop miniatures game. Consider yourselves warned, not safe for kids. I remember getting the creeps looking at the cover of the Morrigan supplement some time ago.

This adventure might not totally dive into that, but again, be warned.

If the adventure is for 13-16.... why is the prelude only 10-11. Are you supposed to play the prelude, then go do some other adventure or two...then come back?

If so, I'm not sure if that is annoying, or really cool....

It is a little unorthodox - therefore, let me shed a little light on the subject. The prelude adventure, Shadows of Flame, is available for free on our website, APG-Games.com and has been since January. The Shadowed Eye of Halagar was initially meant as a free release and an expansion on that adventure, though it developed into a much larger project. Being nearly six months between adventures, I assumed those that did download the adventure and ran it, the players would be 13th level at the time of this release.

On a side note, we do focus more on story and less on a structured, experience level progression. In the adventure, we do emphasize leveling when reaching a milestone rather than killing X number of monsters (though there are plenty of encounters for those wishing more traditional methods). This is a standard that we began using in our 4th Edition adventures and thrilled to see the designers of 5th edition exploring this option as well.

I decided to include the prelude adventure (with an updated map) since the main dragon, Gullhyndr, is vulnerable because of its fight with its rival, Ancenagri (in the Feudal Lords Setting, dragons wounded by other dragons take longer to heal).

So, Game Masters can either run the prelude - include and weave more of their own story into the adventure before heroes head to Halagar - or simply say - "Hey, you're 13th level, let's explore Halagar."
