Hi all,
I was having a very bad day today. I had applied for a new position at my work (a job I really wanted and knew I was qualified for) but did not get it. And to add insult to injury, the person who DID get it was someone I know only applied for it to get out of their current position, not because they really wanted the job itself. Needless to say I was in a foul mood this evening.
When we got home, my girlfriend (Djeta, who some of you know) said she had to run out to Yankee Candle before it closed.
Well, when she got home she had not gone to Yankee at all but rather had run out to our FLGS to pick me up three packs of D&D Miniatures. Deathknell.
Now, I've bought a lot of these but so far failed so far to get a Beholder, a fact she knew, and on my second package I discovered a Beholder in the box. I was very happy.
"I finally have a Beholder" I said.
She replied "Actually, you have two"
Then she went over to her pocketbook and took out the Beholder single she had purchased for me in addition to the packs. She had bought it just in case I did not get one in the packs, but wanted me to keep it anyway (even though the FLGS owner had told her she could return it if I got one in the packs). I'm pretty psyched right now.
So, although I'm still bothered by not getting the job, she made me feel a whole lot better.

And now I have TWO Beholders. My players should be VERY nervous.
I also want to plug my FLGS (Myriad Games in Salem, NH) and the owner Dan who helped make this night a lot better.

Two beholder minis where there were none before? Man, I wish I could get that kind of succor out of my wife. Nothing like the soothing comfort of toys when one doesn't get what one really wants...
