A bad dream about D&D

Did you ever have one of those dreams where you're back in college or high school, and its time for a final exam, but you suddenly realize that you haven't been to any of the classes and don't know any of the material?

I had a similar dream last night - except that I was DMing a game at a convention, and as everyone sat down to play, I realized that I had no adventure planned, I only had one room in a dungeon laid out, I didn't know what most of the stuff in the room was supposed to be or to do, I hadn't made any pre-gen characters, and the game was supposed to be run with some radically new version 4.0 rules that I had never even read. Oy!

Jus thought some of you would find this amusing.

Sounds like you equate D&D with work, at least subconsciously.

Head shrinker would enjoy you as a client. I can't say I have ever dreamed about anything DnD other than once I ran into Gygax at a flea market and he sold me all of the existing Dragon magazines (then about 180) to me for 10 dollars.

Weirdest thing- I had never seen a photo of him at that time and yet the image in my dream matched his perfectly. Freaky.

Regularly.

For D&D, it's not so much an occasional bad dream as a an occasional real-life nightmare. :)

Never about D&D specifically, but whenever I'm planning a LARP, I always have dreams beforehand. I wrote the book (it needs revising again) and I coordinate the plot, weapons, food, logistics, help epople with their characters, etc. It takes about a month of working hours a day to put it together.

At least once before the game, I will have a dream that varies widely in subject matter, but will always feature at least a couple of the people that will be at the game, and I will always find myself to be massively, massively unprepared. Once I didn't have weapons and 20-30 random people showed up expecting to play but had no characters prepared. Another time I'd forgotten to call people and tell them that there was a game.

I've had dreams like that a couple times, I get my friends together from across the country, I'm in the middle of DMing and I don't really have anything planned.

I've also had nightmares where it was like I was in a D&D world adventure, fighting a marilith or trying to cast a protection from evil and fly spell as masses of cthulhoid tentacles rise up out of a well
