A Blind-Monk?

The character cannot see. He takes a -2 penalty to Armor Class, loses his Dexterity bonus to AC (if any), moves at half speed, and takes a -4 penalty on Search checks and on most Strength- and Dexterity-based skill checks. All checks and activities that rely on vision (such as reading and Spot checks) automatically fail. All opponents are considered to have total concealment (50% miss chance) to the blinded character. Characters who remain blinded for a long time grow accustomed to these drawbacks and can overcome some of them.

The last sentence is the key. Blind Fight only helps with movement speed and your offensive capabilities, and Quick Reconniter is pricy (5 worthless ranks in spot and a feat in order to merely locate foes? yuck!). So see if your DM will mitigate some of the other penalties.

I would also see if your DM lets you get a feat or two for free. Being Blind is certainly equivalent to a Flaw from UA, at least. If you could get Blind Fight and Quick Recon for "free" that would go a long way to making you a viable character.

I would also agree that you should be a grappler if possible. That way, you lose your dex bonus to AC anyways and you aren't affected so much by the miss chance.

Your final problem will be with Sneak Attackers. Some way to negate Sneak Attack for you is pretty important -- fortification armor jumps to mind, as does making sure that you always have concealment (smokesticks, for example).

hmm. you have a good point. Our dm lost her net-connection, so I'll have to wait a while before talking to her about that.

about the sneak attacks. if I grapple an opponent, and get hit by a sneakt attack, do I lose the grapple?

Well if you want an undead type monk...I can recommend you look at Strange Lands: Lost Tribes of the Scarred Lands, monster section. There's an undead type monk that might be of use to you.

Just a suggestion.

really? didn't know that, tht's starting to sound really interesting.

about the undead monk, i was only joking, but I think it may come in handy in a campaign I'm DMing, my players will have to get inside an abandoned temple

How can there be a Blind Monk thread on EN world with no mention of Stone Bear from Piratecat's story hour? Wulf Ratbane's character Is a Monk/Spirit Shaman/Something and has no eyes, literally. I can't find the character sheet, but you could ask him.
