A completely different picture

Have you ever read a description of a person, place, or thing in a book, and despite what the description says, ppictured it as something completely different? For instance, in something I was reading early on a character was described as haveing "straw colored hair," now despite this I still always pictured the character with black hair. I do not know why, but I just always pictured him like that. Anyone else do this?

I'm the kind of guy with the kind of overactive imagination that when I read a book,
it's like watching a movie in my head. As soon as a character is introduced, I have a
strong image of how it looks. If a book doesn't give me a detailed description as soon
as their first appearance, then I'll create a version based on the little details I have
and no matter if they give me more details later on, this image won't change.

I just realzied something, when I am reading a book I have a tendency to skip over descriptive text. Yup, thats right. I just from my own image in my head of what the place looks like. I do read text decribing people, and things. but never places, I just sort of make up the place on my own.
