A crapload of new users?

Hi everyone,

Thought I'd de-lurk as well for this thread. My name is Mike, I'm in a little town called Springville, Utah, USA, and I've been lurking for about 2.5 years now. Feel like I've gotten to know quite a few of you around here. I hope that eventually some of you will feel like you've gotten to know me as well.

On my desk: it's a tiny desk...literally barely enough room for the computer monitor and printer. What space is left currently holds my kids' Math Blaster cd and a rubber band...lone remnant of the big garage sale today.

I am one of the recent de-lurkers, having started posting about a month ago when I decided to start up my own Story Hour, "Prison of the Firebringer." I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everybody's who has read it so far, and especially those who have left comments letting me know that they are enjoying it. I haven't posted too much in the general discussion forum, but every now and then a post from me will show up, mostly in reference to Dungeon magazine or the Shackled City adventure path (I am currently running through it as well).

OK then...

Well then, I'm from Belgium and behind Drakhe you'll find Guido, a 39 year old IT specialist whose passions are (in no particular order) computers( as user/profesional/gamer), P&P RPG(DnD3e, ADnD2, Warhammer, Starwars, 7th sea, harn, hackmaster, L5R, ...), music (pasive & active, I play the guitar), movies (greatest source of inspiration for P&P RPG), socialising.

Pfioe, with that list, you probably can guess my main problem: TIME. So much to do and only 24 hours in a day to do it. (and you need some of those for eating, sleeping and oh yeah work)

I've been lurking arround on and off (mainly snooping arround the general and computer forums during lunchbreak at work. One part of my daily routine is checking out the news on ENWorld and I'll always check the latest forum items (great addition to the site Morrus!). On occasion I get the urge to chime in, but I've noticed that a) often what I would like to add is already written by someone else (and I don't won't to post stupid msg's "like he said") b) I start to compose a reply and for some reason when I go for the submit button, I decide against posting. Come to think of it, b) is probably because I can't spend as much time on the boards as I would like and want to avoid not being able to participate properly in a discussion...

Anyways, ENWorld is a great community that shows at the one hand the diversity of gamers and on the other hand (notwithstanding this diversity) a true community spirit. I planning to come over to GenCon in one of the coming years and hope to meet some ENWorlders.

How about, when you introduce yourself, you have to list out some of the objects that are lying on the desk near your computer monitor.

Hi I'm J.D. Jarvis I've been a gamer for 27 or 28 years now some of the things on my computer desk right now are:
an antique Brass lamp sitting on a copy of "The Age of Faith" by Will Durant, warcraft 2 and Myth the total Codex sittign in the box for the SIM-Mania for kids collection, a brownie badge, a glass cat candle holder, "Hackers" VHS tape, "The Fog" and "Sout Park Third season" DVDs, a copy of "Mythion-Improbable" , An empty Jelly Babies tin I'm trying to figure out somethign to do with, programming books, game related printouts and loose sheets scattered every where, some VHS copies oof of PBS of "Red Dwarf" and my Wooden Hand Model.... to mention a few things.

Hello all.

My name is Richard Canning and I have been reading the news site for years now, though I have only been reading and posting on the boards for under a year; though I still only post when I feel I have something positive to contribute.

I am from Melbourne, Australia. And have been playing AD&D since I was about 7; I am now 33. I have played a wide variety of games, and are current a severe D&D addict.

About a year ago I was accepted by Atlas Games to write a section for their upcoming product Seven Serpents. This product is being released this month (in the US - we will get it here in a couple of months).

The buzz I got for being accepted for publication was so huge that I wanted to do it more. Hence I wanted to network. Hence, I am here.

I have used the boards for FAQ, opinions, help and just great entertainment. The people here are fun, and that will keep me around for longer than anything else.

On my desk: My wonderful 17" Powerbook, an iPod, a digital camera, some CDs, some DVDs, lots of papers (the most important being the Atlas Games Contract), a complete printout of the SRD, Season 3 West Wing on DVD, a large glass of orange juice.

Hi all, been gaming for about 13 years (since I was 15) and have lurked here for a couple of years.I work with troubled kids in the land of Red Sox agony and Patriots Hysteria. And unlike some others, I don't ever bring a car into Boston, I can't afford the inevitable tickets.

On my desk:
a couple bottles of flavored water (gotta be healthy and all)
some speakers
paper scraps
printed information about an upcoming surgery (gallbladder removal)
a remote control
watch
calculator
scribbled game notes for a Star Wars game in planning

Cool! You should come work with me in my office, because no one I work with has anything cool on their desks.

Stuff on my desk:

- empty cans (mostly ice-tea)
- stack of Friends DVD's
- stack of music CD's (ready to fill up my MP3 player)
- a computer & printer (obviously)
- pens en pencils and scrap paper
- a sh*tload of roleplaying books (4 x 1 meter stacks, yes I do collect)
- about a dozen leftover chop-sticks and plastic forks/spoons (I like chinese take-away)

Interesting things on my desk: this photo of me and Gary Gygax; this photo of me and Mrs. Noah; my Beta Phi Mu certificate; my +2 Button from GenCon 2000 (a gift from a fan of Eric Noah's Unofficial D&D Third Edition News); a candle shaped like an evil skull, a Jar-Jar Binks action figure; a set of metal dice given to me by my Mom on my last birthday (and I'm frickin' 35 years old!), and a Taco Bell Dog doll (why the heck, I don't know).
