Hanging in there. Better than the alternative.

So, 25,800 - 9,000 (bead of healing) = 16,800. 16,800 - 16,800 (bead of smiting) = 0gp. So you get your bead of Karma for free :D
I wonder what custserv would say about that.

Anyone ever read the book description of 3.5 Spell Turning (not in the SRD)?

The first paragraph explains that while charm person could be turned, fireball and inflict critical wounds could not be. The fourth paragraph gives an example of spell turning. What spell is turned in the example? Inflict critical wounds, of course.

Also in the 3.5 Player's Handbook, notice that the Weapon Finesse feat seems to affect all light weapons now, according to its description. However, look at the table of all feats - you can apparently gain the Weapon Finesse feat multiple times - its effects do not stack, it applies to a new weapon each time.

Ah, but the Strand of Prayer Beads always must have at least two beads, right? Which would mean it would always cost at least something, I think...

Each strand includes two or more special beads, each with a different magic power.

From the PHB 3.5 Errata:

Spell Turning
Player's Handbook, page 282
The example used in the spell description is incorrect,
because it makes use of a touch-range spell (inflict
critical wounds).
In the fourth paragraph of the spell description, change
the text to read as follows: “. . . targeted by a magic
missile spell heightened to 4th level, you would turn . . .”

What they did forget to correct was this stupid copy/paste from the 3.0:

SIMPLE WEAPON PROFICIENCY [GENERAL]

Benefit: You make attack rolls with simple weapons normally.

Normal: When using a weapon with which you are not proficient, you take a –4 penalty on attack rolls.

Special: All characters except for druids, monks, rogues, and wizards are automatically proficient with all simple weapons. They need not select this feat.

Simple, Martial, and Exotic Weapons: Anybody but a druid, monk, rogue, or wizard is proficient with all simple weapons.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Rogues are proficient with all simple weapons, plus the hand crossbow, rapier, sap, shortbow, and short sword. Rogues are proficient with light armor, but not with shields.
