I have a question regarding something that happened IMC last week.
There's a Fire Giant (Good Aligned) Player Character (Wizard) in the Party.
The Fire Giant race was forced... I think he likes it now but I wouldn't know for sure. That's how things happened.
LONG STORY
When we moved from 2e to 3e instead of making a "mock party" for them to try the new rules HUGE things happened and all of the players (11th / 12th level characters) were stripped from their powers and left with minimum equipment (nothing magical) on a lake... They had nightmares and awakened there. They were all 1st level and had to find out what happened. That's were this player joins the scene, he was an apprentice sent by his master (a HIGH LEVEL wizard) to find them since he could help them.
After re learning the basics (3 adventures... more or less) they all regained their powers and became their level once again. So I had to do something about this Wizard (who was 4th level) and I told him that he was a Giant (I don't recall why we decided Fire). He gained lots of hit points (although he has only 4 "Giant" levels) he gained a lot of Strength and a lot of Constitution and since it's a High Level High Magic game I let him go without any ECL.
And he's not overpowered, which works fine by me (although he knows that if he starts taking any martial oriented class he WILL get an ECL)
Now... Giants IMC were the first of the created races, and they were wise. After lots and lots of things they became what they are now, a forgotten race that almost everybody believes is EVIL. The Good Giants are living on Islands that are not in any map and almost no one hears from them. But they want to rejoin the world, and they have seen in this person
a Formerly Believed Human / Good Giant adventuring with a Well known GOOD party and a soon-to-be saint the Key for making their reentrance in this world. (And so allow a Giant PC Race from any supplement)
The last game this character ended talking to one of these Good Giants, one of the Leaders (Think Ancient Rome or Ancient Greece for the Giants) and I told him I'd told him in the next game what he'd told him...
TO SUM UP
The Good Giants want the Giant PC to be their link to the world...
I don't want to force this on the PC and I want him also to give him the chance to "give up" being a Giant and rebecome a Human (maybe that's what he wants after all I don't know). I want also the chance for him to continue being a Giant but don't be what they want him to be. It's a tough tough task and not everyone wants that kind of sacrifice.
BUT I don't want this to be decided by his Alignment (NG) but rather by his decisions as a player.
Can you give me any advice on how to do this?
