My Goliath Martial Wilderness Rogue / Wolf Totem Whirling Frenzy Barbarian exclusively uses the Heavy flail. Though, just reading his class title probably doesn't make for a strong argument about his sanity.

Seriously though, very nice weapon. My aforementioned character just picked up Knockback, and home-run batted the boss dragon of the last dungeon back and forth across the room. So many options with it, and as you level up base weapon damage becomes less relevant anyway. It lets you trip safely, which is handy for, say, stopping a charge in it's tracks on the AoO (yay, Mountain Rage racial substitution ability giving reach!). Really, it benefits alot from having more reach from the enemy, as it makes tripping and disarming viable and easy without needing the "Improved" feats.
[sblock]My character, for those who are interested, second post. Note: DM let me combine Wolf Totem from UA w/ Lion Totem from CC, since they work off different features.

Wolf Totem lets him pick up Improved Trip w/o needing the int or the rather worthless prereq feat (for a barbarian). He will basically Trip, Power Attack, Bull rush string enemies. Later, will add in Leap Attack, Shock Trooper, Sudden Leap (maneuver), and his Pounce ability for real nasty charges. He also has flexibility, with skills like UMD and Tumble.
EDIT: Also, used LA buy-off.[/sblock]
Finally, the hammer from Races of Stone, the Goliath Greathammer, is 3d6 for large, 1d12 for medium, and has x4 crit. Not worth the feat, as far as I'm concerned. Oh, it also gives +2 sunder, for those who enjoy destroying treasure.
