Pirates!

Thren squares off against an opponent who thinks his use of an actual weapon and slightly elevated terrain gave him an advantage, until a swift kick to the side of his knee brings him low and an elbow to the side of the head sends him over the railing into unconsciousness. Thren quickly steps forward and takes the now vacant spot.

Ramas, more concerned with the safety of the Sea Breeze as a whole, fires off a hastily cast Firebolt that misses its mark and moves to join the Captain and his first mate in devising a plan to dislodge the Sea Breeze.

Luthor whispers life into the driftwood club he wields and slams it into the side of the pirate he faces. The pirate groans in pain and even coughs up some blood, but manages to stay on his feet.

That is until Tarruka uses the opening created by Luthor’s blow to the pirate’s ribs to put a swift end to the pirate. His elven blade finds its mark and sending the pirate careening over the railing and into the watery depths of the ocean.

The mere sight of Steely Dahn gives the pirates, and some Sailors, pause. The poor pirate face to face with Dahn hesitates a second too long and Dahn takes full advantage of the misstep. Dahn brings his flamberge down swiftly, too swiftly, and the pirate is cut in twain.

Arjhan takes a moment and fortifies the frontlines resolve as he grants them the blessings of Sylvanus. A gentle breeze caresses Dahn, Luthor, and Tarruka’s face as their nerves are steeled and their resolve strengthened.

The pirate Captain bellows in disgust as some of his men are downed and rallies his men. They press forward in an attempt to regain their lost momentum. Adept at fighting shoulder to shoulder they attack from multiple angles simultaneously in an attempt to catch their opponent off guard. The pirates find their marks drawing blood from Thren and Luthor, but unable to get a solid hit on Dahn. A couple Sailors take hits as well but are quickly swapped out for fresh fighters as the Sailors fight back against the Pirates. A Sailor attempts to imitate Dahn’s amazing feat and, to much surprise, manages to remove the Pirates head and send it flying over the railing. The Sailors quickly move forward to plug the Pirates advance.

Meanwhile the two ships moan and groan under the weight of each other. The main mast of the Pirate ship explodes at its base and begins a slow descent that barely misses the Sea Breeze and causes a huge splash that rocks the two ships violently.

OOC: The Sea Breeze
6 damage to Thren
8 to Luthor.
All PCs minus the storm chaser make a dc 10 dex save or be knocked prone by the wake.

Ramas rocks with the motion the Sea Breeze standing firm.

"Kunkka you fool you better have a plan to get us out if this with a ship intact. The pirates were defeated they couldn't do anything without sails! Your a bloodthirsty fool!".

OOC: do I have line of site of the bbeg now? I'm.assuming I can see the entire deck from here

Captain Kunka looks at Ramas and points to the pirate ship, "When the pirates are dealt with we need only set our sails properly and let mother nature take her course." Despite the deafening sound of battle his voice is clear and confident. Jacquees' attention is focused on the battle.

OOC: Your assumptions are correct. The BBEG is visible.

Ramas makes some intricate gestures with his fingers before pointing at a large chunk of splintered wood from behind the captain , he then directs his gaze to the pirate captain the chunk of wood whirls in mid air untilled its jagged edge is pointing at its mark.

OOC: Mr. Bbeg needs to make a dex save dc14 or take _: 3D8 = [5, 7, 4] = 16
. If he makes the save the guy in front has to save then the guy infront of him untilled the wood hits something solid to stop it.

"Hear the voice of High Captain and cower, sea dogs!"

With that, young priest blasts pirates in front of him, pushim them away, bowling them over, catching even their captain in thunder wave that fans in front of him.

Thunderwave CON dc 14 for half and no push: 2D8 = [7, 4] = 11
hits 3x3 grid starting at Luthors row and going down and away, push ten feet those that fail the save. In addition, all unattended object are pushed, no save. Should hit 7 pirates and BBEG

Pirates! Round 2

Ramas attempts to catch the Pirate Captain unaware by hurling debris at him from behind, but the Pirate Captain easily sidesteps the plank. The projectile continues its intended path as a Pirate ducks just in time to avoid it, but the next Pirate was not so lucky. The plank smashes into the back of head and shatters into pieces. The Pirate stands there for just a moment longer as his eye’s slowly roll into the back of his skull, and blood begins to pour from his nose and stream down the back of his neck before hitting the deck face first.

Luthor takes full advantage of the distraction and swings his club in wide arc. The club emits a thunderous wave that catches over half the Pirates and the Captain. Many of the Pirates, through combined efforts, manage to stand firm against the overwhelming force, but two unfortunate souls were not fast enough and are flung from the ship. The absence of yell of any kind indicates that the two Pirates were dead before they hit the water. The Pirate Captain, having sidestepped the thrown plank, is unable to defend against the wave and is flung against the railing in the opposite corner. He spits blood over the railing and a toothy smile crosses his face as he points his cutlass at Luthor before saying, “This one’s mine!”

With his allies suitably buffed, Arjhan turned his attention to the pirate captain, just visible over the rail of the poop deck behind his mass of pirates. Holding up his holy symbol of Sylvanus, Arjhan murmured another prayer. Bright, holy flames shot down from the sky toward the pirate captain.

The rocking of the ships was just as bad as any storm, and Tarukka knew they would all be dragged down soon were this not finished. And yet, amidst the clash of battle and the din of shouts and screams, there was almost no way to get the groups to work together to at least save everyone's life.

" This is madness!" he roared, his voice almost lost to the thunderclap summoned by his traveling companion, " We'll all be dragged down lest we do something!"

The Pirates, however, didn't seem to be ones for parlaying. Whispering a silent curse, Tarukka agreed to speak their language. His arm filled with familiar strength, the blessings of nature coiling over his muscles and guiding the strike, Tarukka made to hewer the next pirate he saw as he bounded up the stairs to the upper deck, seeking to at least protect Luthor and hopefully end this by incapacitating as many men as he could.

Steely Dahn locks his sights on the next enemy that reluctantly took the place of his fallen comrade. He raises his sword again in practiced fashion. The poor pirate attempted to raise his cutlass in defense, but the force behind Dahn’s blow was too much for him. Dahn’s flamberge sliced deep into the man. His body lifeless though still clinging to the blade. A sidelong swipe and the limp corpse is released and flung over the railing.

The Pirate Captain makes his way across the deck and squares off against Luthor sending a barrage of attacks, but Luthor holds his grown parrying each swing in practiced fashion. On the other side of the poop deck the pirates attempt to surround the monk. Many blows reign down on the Thren but only one finds its mark. Finding a hole in his defenses a slice comes in and slices a deep gash just under Thren’s arm.

Pirates! Round 3
The sailors seal their control of the main decks and quickly surround and eliminate the pirates on their level. Several sailors begin making their way to the pirate ship via ropes to begin the process of separating the ships. They leave the remaining pirates to the few who already occupy the stairs, but stand ready to intervene if necessary.

OOC:
OOC: Thren takes 6 damage from a crit. PCs turn.

Seeing the stairs open, Arjhan grinned. He maneuvered his way through the sailors and onto the stairs where the pirates and pirate captain engaged the other cleric. Taking a deep breath, Arjhan exhaled. Noxious fumes washed over the pirates and pirate captain.

"Is that the best you've got, you son of a sea cucumber? Look now how it is done!"

With that Luthor swings his club and...well...clubs the captain solidly on the shoulder.

~ The fighting did not seem to be abating anytime soon. Though Ramas called for surrender, Tarukka was not sure it would go heeded: these pirates were desperate, and amidst the din of battle, demands for peace would be hard to accept. With the forecastle becoming a bit crowded, the Tiefling dodged his way to the left side of Luthor, taking a clean swipe at the captain of these renegades as he did so.

Cut of the head, after all ... ~

Arjhan takes advantage of the recently vacated space on the stairs and rushes forward to occupy it. He takes a deep breath and exhales a cloud of poison onto the Pirate Captain and his men. After the cloud dissipates only the Pirate Captain and one of his men is left standing.
Luthor swings at the Pirate Captain with his living club connecting with a solid hit.
Thren switches posture from defensive to offensive and swings at the pirate in front of him. He connects hard with his first swing but the pirate ducks his second swing at the last moment.
Tarruka also gets a clean strike on the Pirate Captain.
Dahn notices the clash on the upper deck and sprints up the stairs past everyone to put himself between the enemy and his allies.
The pirates rush to the aid of their Captain taking shots at all those who surround their leader. The pirate fighting Thren attempts a half-hearted swing against the monk that’s easily dodged. Another pirate rushes at Luthor and raises his scimitar, but suddenly freezes, unable to complete the motion. The remainder of the pirates surround Dahn and lay into him hard bringing him down to one knee.
The Pirate Captain squares off again against Luthor connecting twice with two solid blows. Unphased by his protection spell.
OOC: Luthor: Two hits vs ACs 17 & 19 for 5 & 6 damage respectively.

Tarruka: One hit vs AC 21 for 8 dmg
