A New Power - SEEKING REPLACEMENT PLAYER

Star Wars: A New Power, is in need of some players. After a long work-induced break in the game, I'm starting it back up again. Unfortunately, it looks like some players may not be with us still, and at least one is definitely not returning.

The basics:
Setting - Star Wars
Era - Post Battle of Endor Rebellion

Brutal Summary:

A long while back during the Clone Wars, two especially talented and disillusioned Jedi figure out Palpatine's plot to take over the Galaxy. Strangely, they decide to fake their deaths and fade into obscurity rather than do something about it. Unfortunately they 'faded' their way onto an uncharted and hostile jungle planet in an unknown star system via hyperspace mishap. Robinson Crusoe effect. They happen to have a bunch of refugees with them, and get to surviving. They eventually take up a few of the refugees as their students (Kal, Adrial) when they decide to form a new order of force users which they dub the Sethi, neither Jedi nor Sith but something in between.

Time flies, and eventually a young lady and her stowaway(Kia and Aasan) and a middle-aged man(Jorran) coincidentally end up in this new system, and crash land on the uncharted planet as well. They meet up with the Sethi and the surviving refugees. Jorran, who was a Padawan at the time of the Jedi Purge, converts to the Sethi, but Kia is not keen on joining them despite her affinity with the force. Aasan takes a disliking to the Sethi masters due to what he sees as past cowardice and a higher-than-though attitude. But since Kia's ship survived the crash-landing, they set about trying to get it space worthy again.

Unfortunately the hyperdrive is slag, and the surviving hyperdrive from the transport that delivered the refugees and former Jedi to this planet is surrounded by a mysterious impennetrable shield. With no other option, they get Kia's ship spaceworthy and set up a distress beacon, and await rescue.

Back in civilized space, Rebel High Command finds out that the Empire has diverted a large portion of its resources to a spot in wild space, and soon picks up a distress beacon from this point. The beacon is traced to the Dawnsprinter, which according to logs retrieved from the Emperial travel authority, seems to have travelled to this spot in a fraction of the time the fastest known hyperdrive could have. A rebel covert team(R-LE-1, Jaess) is set up to investigate, and is about to set out for the unknown...

Characters:

Sethi Group: (recently restarted, looking for replacement players)

Jorran Kaarai - PC 'Jedi' Guardian Human (PCed)
Aasan Ton - PC Scout Kel-Dor (PCed)
Kia Obscura - PC Force Adept/Scoundrel Human (PCed)
Kal Donoma - PC 'Jedi' Guardian Human (NPCed)
Adrial Strogg - PC 'Jedi' Consular Human (PCed)
rogues gallery

Rebel Group: (active, not accepting new players)
R-LE-1 - PC Droid Expert/Tech Specialist/Scoundrel
Jaess Talori - PC Scoundrel/Soldier Human

A full recount of ingame events thus far is available via the story hour

Where we stand:
Kal is definitely not coming back to us due to work constraints. If someone wants to take him over, I have his player's approval to allow it. Kia and Aasan's players will likely be active again, while Adrial and Jorran are up in the air. I've let their players know the game is restarting. If they don't reply or they let me know they won't be continuing the game, they'll be open for replacements as well.

We're going to be seeing a lot of in-game action soon after a long while of steady roleplay. I'd rather not have to NPC the Sethi core membership, and they're all AWOL at the moment. So I'm getting the news out there about whats up. I know a lot of people aren't keen on taking over other people's players, but I hope for the best.

This sounds very interesting.

A couple of questions, though.
A) I have played Star Wars before (quite a bit at the time), but none since the revised book came out. I am more than willing to pick one up, but would not having it currently disqualify me?

B) Could I revamp the character (Kal Donoma) a bit to better suit my tastes? I realize he would have to stay pretty close to what is already there, but just curious on what kind of leeway might be available?

I don't know exactly what changes have been made between the intial and revised books, but we'll be able to work something out. As long as you have the d20 version we should be good.

That depends on how you want to alter him. What did you have in mind? As far as in-character goes, there's quite a bit of leeway, considering that Kal's been very....very reserved throughout the story thus far.

I would be willing to take over a character too...expecially if I could make some small changes (if needed...probably not thought.) Just keep me posted if you need me.

Groovy....I have already put in an order at my FLGS, since I have gotten a bad craving for some Star Wars. So I will really dig into the original d20 book.

Well in character I would probably keep him reserved as I get up to speed with everyone else. But I like to take an active roll, so he wouldn't stay reserved for long. Not so much stepping on others toes, but more just making sure his point of view is known on subjects.

But mechanics-wise I was hoping to do some tweeking. Nothing major and I am very okay with the fact that most things should stay how it is currently. (Basically I was hoping to move a few Stat points and skill points, just to personalize the character.)

Sounds good there, Yeti. Go ahead and make those changes, and post the finished product here for me to look over when you can.

That leaves Jorran and Adrial up for grabs, Shaggy. Any idea which you'd like to play?

I shall make some notes soon (hopefully by the end of the afternoon).

Jorran looks pretty interesting. If I have time, I am going to look over some of the posts and get a feel for his character today, if not...then tomorrow.

In the meantime, wanna give me a one-liner blurb on his personality?
