A Night at the Four Seasons (DM: renau1g, Judge:Ozymandias79)

Phoenix kneels at the side of the pool, muttering arcane syllables under her breath. Tendrils of flame flicker across the surface of the pond.

"This is how they knew we were coming. This lake can be used to scry on that portal and that hellhole we just got out of." She stands up and walks the the cottage. "Anyone found anything that gives us a clue of how to get back to the farm? Find anything useful in there Damen?"

In the armoire there is a mantle hanging up that looks made of gossamer and a deep purple cloak.

The chest contains gold, a scimitar with inscriptions of halfling bravery, and a curious set of rawhide boot straps fitted with spikes.

There is also a small writing desk in the room with the armoire. There is a journal written in Elven that lists a description of a person, an estimated wealth, and actual recoveries. The items found (and previously discovered) are listed under actual recoveries, there are also descriptions of each of you (male drow, nice crossbow!!!; female shifter, heavily armed; etc.)

[sblock=ooc]
+2 Spidersilk Mantle, +1 Cloak of the Walking Wounded, +2 Goblin Halfling (;)) Totem Scimitar, Rushing Cleats, 1200 gold pieces also. [/sblock]

Phoenix walks into the room, looking over Damen's shoulder as he opens the chest and armoire.

"Is that what I think it is?" she says, pulling the gossamer cloak over her shoulders. She smiles and makes a slight gesture, then plants a foot on the wall and walks across the room on the wall, stepping back to the floor a second before the cloak's enchantment fades. "This might come in useful."

OOC: Assuming no one else had a Spidersilk Mantle on their wishlist, I'll take it. Thanks renau1g!

*Kauldron looks up and around from the log he sat upon as he here's the commotion from inside the cabin.*

Hmmm...?

*Looking over his shoulder. The slowly stands up and stretches. Then makes his way back into the cabin.*

What's going on in here?

*Looking over the others shoulders.*

Oh! Loot. Nice. Anything of interest in there?

OOC: I'm presuming the +2 Halfling Totem Dagger is a typo and meant to be a scimitar as the description stated was that of a scimitar.

I have a +2 Goblin (Halfling) Totem Scimitar on my wish list. If everyones cool with me acquiring it that is.

OOC: Loot: I have the same scimitar on my wish list as well, but I also have the cloak of the walking wounded on my list, so either of those will do for me.

Papolstaanas peers at the Elven writing. "What does this say?"

Papolstaanas peers at the Elven writing. "What does this say?"

"It's a description of us," Kaeysari says. "It's got details of our equipment. Things like that. I don't like it. Who are these people and what is it that they want with us? They can't have brought us to that desert just to kill us. They could have tried that anywhere, and what have we got that they want?"

OOC: Rushing Cleats are on my wish list. I'll snag 'em, if nobody minds.

Damen nods as Phoenix climbs the walls. I believe my grandmother had one of those. I believe it is how she caught her second husband. The drow winks merrily.

Damen's face quickly becomes hard. It is the villagers. Specifically an old wizard whom none of you saw. He sits and scrys upon us all. The village gains 'some benefit' from this trap according to the traitor Shamus... it is they who dropped you into this void. They may be watching us now, I know not. But we must find our way back. They must pay.

Papolstaanas looks profoundly uncomfortable. Have people really been spying on him all this time? And how long have they been spying on him? And if this was all a setup, all of it, would that mean that they were spying on him even before Seamus came and offered him a job? What could they have seen? Papolstaanas struggles to remember what horribly embarrassing things he's done lately. This is even worse than having Jynxx around, with his evil mind-reading abilities--this is a whole group of people who aren't even friendly watching his every move, maybe even when he does disgusting personal things and... Papolstaanas shudders. But why would they want to watch him? He isn't really interesting enough to be watched, is he? No--he's really quite boring. His companions are the interesting ones, probably--the ones that actually make the watching worthwhile. Which actually gives him an idea that makes him start snickering uncontrollably.

"You know what, we should just be really boring," he says. "Because, then they wouldn't watch anymore, would they. Once I was in this bar on Bacarte, that's where I'm from, and two of my brothers were playing cards with these goblins and they got into this terrible argument about the rules. For hours, and they just wouldn't stop! I fell asleep twice waiting for it to end. I mean I fell asleep and then someone knocked a mug onto the floor and it woke me up and then I fell asleep again. Everybody was falling asleep! It was the boringest thing ever. I mean the most boring. We could do something like that, just be really boring. Except that Phoenix would have to cover up her bellybutton because Kauldron and Damen keep staring at it, I'm not sure why but I guess it's sort of interesting somehow, and maybe whoever is spying on us finds it interesting as well." Papolstaanas chuckles.

Phoenix pats Papol on the head and smiles.

"Isn't he cute?" she says, looking at the group.

Her smile is unchanged, but her eyes burn with something bordering on madness. "I once hunted down a murdering rapist who couldn't see beyond what I wore. He was so busy trying to figure out how to get to see the rest of me that he let his guard down. It took him two days to die and only because the fire I was slowly killing him with got out of control."

After a second, the fire in her eyes dies down and she pats Papol on the head again. "Your size is deceptive, little kobold, like my appearance. Someday you might find somebody that needs to die and can be distracted or fooled by appearances - if you know how to use it, it could save your life."

"Speaking of people who need to die, anyone got any ideas on getting out of here? Maybe we can get them to look at me while Damen loses a knife in their innards."
