Papolstaanas looks profoundly uncomfortable. Have people really been spying on him all this time? And how long have they been spying on him? And if this was all a setup, all of it, would that mean that they were spying on him even before Seamus came and offered him a job? What could they have seen? Papolstaanas struggles to remember what horribly embarrassing things he's done lately. This is even worse than having Jynxx around, with his evil mind-reading abilities--this is a whole group of people who aren't even friendly watching his every move, maybe even when he does disgusting personal things and... Papolstaanas shudders. But why would they want to watch him? He isn't really interesting enough to be watched, is he? No--he's really quite boring. His companions are the interesting ones, probably--the ones that actually make the watching worthwhile. Which actually gives him an idea that makes him start snickering uncontrollably.
"You know what, we should just be really boring," he says. "Because, then they wouldn't watch anymore, would they. Once I was in this bar on Bacarte, that's where I'm from, and two of my brothers were playing cards with these goblins and they got into this terrible argument about the rules. For hours, and they just wouldn't stop! I fell asleep twice waiting for it to end. I mean I fell asleep and then someone knocked a mug onto the floor and it woke me up and then I fell asleep again. Everybody was falling asleep! It was the boringest thing ever. I mean the most boring. We could do something like that, just be really boring. Except that Phoenix would have to cover up her bellybutton because Kauldron and Damen keep staring at it, I'm not sure why but I guess it's sort of interesting somehow, and maybe whoever is spying on us finds it interesting as well." Papolstaanas chuckles.
