A Simple Errand (DM:renau1g, Judge: covaithe)

At first glance nothing appears to be on the page, it seems fairly crisp sheet, but then as Meepo and Ingot examine more closely, words begin to appear on the page. After discussions with Dorn, the page appears to be protected by a ritual called "Secret Page", a minor, but effective enchantment.

There are a few lines, names? on the paper:

- Veruzak
- Martelai
- Carmorel

Who they are or why Crag was drawn to this page are still a mystery, more investigation is necessary.

[sblock=ooc] History 10
I'm assuming I failed. [/sblock]

Meepo starts giggling when he notices the names. "This one time, before I left my tribe to the rule of my just and honorable half brother, there was this big party. It was a going away party for me. I am famous after all. It was fantastic, tables of the best beetle meat, tankards of mushroom ale. No expense was spared on my behalf. My half brother though, wanting to lavish me before I set out into the big scary world, gave me one final surprise.

"So I'm standing in the middle of the warren when someone rolls this huge barrel at me. I think it's going to hit me, and retreat, but then it crashes. BOOM! And out jumped three acrobats. It was crazy. I swear one of their names was Carmorel or Caramel. Are you sure Dorn isn't right about the whole International Acrobatics Council?"

By the sour faces of his compatriots, Meepo figures that's a no.

"Um..." Ingot shakes its head. "Um, that's... very interesting, Meepo... but no, I do think this paper is from or for the Institute of Arcane Ciphers..." The warforged shakes its head again, and tries to recall anything from its reading that might have mentioned any of the three names. They do look faintly familiar...

[sblock=a secondary secondary skill]Would thievery be applicable if Jax stole something from a member of the IAC in the past? Maybe the mage swore revenge with the full backing of the organization.

Of course, that might lead to complications down the road, hehehe.[/sblock]

Jax unconsciously wags his tail during Meepo's story, apparently finding it deeply interesting.

"He rolled a barrel at you? How dangerous! What if you didn't see it coming? You'd have been squashed into kobold-paste. Heh... still, sounds like quite a party. Very fun! They'll have to throw another one when you return. A party, that is. Not another barrel."

After speaking, Jax sets down his backpack and then searches through it. He mutters, "This IAC sounds familiar. I think that human wizard in the tavern yelled it at me? 'You'll pay lizard! Nobody steals from the Institute of Arcane Ciphers!'" Then, louder, he says "Oh, I hear that a lot. All those idle threats. He should have been watching his bag closer!"

He continues sifting through his backpack, looking for the mage's wallet. It's been awhile though, and Jax can't remember if he still has it. It wasn't very shiny at all.

[sblock=Thievery 29]Link to roll! I'm thinking Jax might have kept something, a calling card or some other trinket of the IAC. I'll leave that to you, R1.[/sblock]

Not knowing what to think about the discovery of an arcane association, Crag once again tries to tap into the visions that Terra had shown him earlier.

Terra...is Ezren part of this IAC? Is there some kind of physical landmark that you can show me that can guide me to where we need to go?

[sblock=Nature Check] Crag rolls a 17 Nature. Hopefully that's enough to help! [/sblock]

Ingot recalls hearing mention in the Screamer about an organization opening up a research center in Daunton, although what it was for was a source of controversy in the paper as some citizens didn't want it opened up in the city.

Meepo relates a funny tale, but it fails to shed any light on the situation.

Dorn recalls hearing the three names before, the three are arcanists who've been in the city recently. They might still be here, but he can't recall.

Jax remembers that day all too well, and even remembers standing in the Commons when he did run into the mage, but not the exact location.

Crag feels himself drawn towards the Commons as well, a bird lands on his shoulder and flies away, leading him away from the tavern, and specifically Ezren.

"Hmm... these names do sound familiar. I've had some exchanges with various arcane practitioners in town, looking for someone who could help me get my powers under control." Dorn wracks his memory, trying to figure out who or where these three people might be.

Arcana 14 (unassisted)- may need those aid another rolls
