A Simple Errand (DM:renau1g, Judge: covaithe)

Crag looks over at Jax, who seems to be thinking the same thing he was (you can just kind of tell those kinds of things sometimes...), and looks at the flight path of the bird.

"We should head over to the commons. Before we do though. I do want to welcome you to the group, Meepo. It seems that you have been able to escape the life of power and service for the mean-time, but feel free to continue relating your tales. I find it refreshing to hear about how others have lived. It also says a lot about why you have the equipment you do. I remember hearing you talk about plate mail. Perhaps we will be able to garner enough from our little adventure here that you can pick up some new equipment. Speaking of equipment," he says nonchalantly "does anyone need to pick anything up before we head off? I know that I would like to pick up a new shield...this one seems to be getting a bit worn out."

Looking at the Crag's shield, you can see the evidence of the dragon battle upon its face. The surface is pitted with small holes and even after their long march back to Daunton, pieces of grit can be seen. Although he hasn't been adventuring very long, it is evident that the shield has seen a lot of use.

[sblock=Dorn] You should have gotten a +2 bonus to your arcana roll due to my successful nature check [/sblock]

"All right, we can visit the shops on the way to the Commons."

ooc: what's the monetary loot we've gotten in this adventure? I don't seem to have added it to ingot's sheet...

[sblock=ooc] Meepo takes his share of the treasure and...

Also, can I use History again? It doesn't really make sense for Meepo to suddenly remember something he hadn't remembered a few moments ago.[/sblock]

"Yippy," Meepo barks, "I'm going to have the shiniest armor in the world when I get back from my adventure with all of you! It'll be so shiny that I'll prove to people that I don't have to be sneaky."

Grabbing Jax's tail, Meepo starts skipping in the direction of the commons.

[sblock=Meepo]
You can try again. Perhaps Ingot's success and revelation of that information spurs a memory of your own? [/sblock]

Jax nearly leaps out of his skin when Meepo grasps his tail. "Hey, hands off! I am not a hatchling anymore!" He shakes off Meepo.

As the group starts toward the commons, Jax asks Crag "So why aren't we talking to Ezren? We should get our reward money before we go shopping..."

[sblock=failed diplomacy]Rolled a 6. I was going to try to get Meepo to think harder, but not with that check![/sblock]

Crag frowns at Jax's question. The rest were probably thinking the same thing as well. They did the job, they should get paid for it, right?

"I have been getting a very very bad feeling about this staff and Ezren. Lately I have been having terrible visions of a mad wizard using the staff to summon demons and other dragons. Jax... the evil wizard was Ezren. Terra has never shown me a vision that did not come true and she has never lied to me. Granted some of it is up to interpretation, but it's hard to mistake the face of your employer, laughing evilly while entities unknown are unleashed on our world. I can live without some pay. I can travel great distances and suffer many hardships. But I am nature's protector and I cannot willingly let something like this destroy the balance that has been so carefully maintained by the spirits. I'll understand if you do not come along, but Terra is telling me to investigate this arcane group, and it has something to do with this staff. Let's go buy some equipment for the task at hand and see where this road will take us. Besides..." Crag begins, thinking to motivate the small rogue, "We're investigating a group of mages, right? They're bound to have a bunch of magic stuff lying around. Just think about how much all of that is worth! It's got to be a LOT more than what Ezren was going to pay us!"

[sblock=ooc]History check (1d20+8=18) Yay (hopefully) not failing again at this skill challenge) [/sblock]

"You know, I'll admit that I might have been off a bit about the acrobatics thing, but, Crag, your talk of this staff and this Ezran fellow - especially in conjunction with that Caramel guy - has got me a little scared." Meepo slowed, as if a cool wind was upon him. "Not just that, I seem to recall something..."

[sblock=ooc]Ok, Ingot is going to buy a plain old +1 holy symbol.

Are we shopping and travelling before continuing to roll for the skill challenge, or should I go ahead?[/sblock]
