A Sojourn in Sairundan [Judge: Manzanita]

(OOC: Oh, yes we are, but that won't speed us up. Still you're right--I should RP that. Too bad Lasair never got to level to 5 so Meliana could chat them up)

"Our journey takes us into lands that are inhospitable and dangerous. I will not allow you to continue with us for now. Where will you go next? I will return to help you fulfill the end of the term when I am finished here," Lasair says, dismissing the tal zij for the moment.

"
I suppose we shall return to a nearby town. We are able bodied individuals, we can work, or perhaps we will find work as guards
."
Jilsa smirks at the irony. "
We thank you for helping us
, Lasair and friends.
Your actions allowed us to leave our old lives behind, and for that we are forever indebted to you. We will stay at places on this road, between here and Antreil, and wait for your return. Travel safe, and may
Galatea
quench your thirst in the dry deserts
."

Jilsa, Jilna, Jonda, and Jonka all bow.

OOC: Are you giving them your horses?

Update sometime in the near future, probably not tomorrow.

"Henffych i'r dydd cawn eto gwrdd. Do you require money? I should think you do," says Conuld, still not entirely happy with the treatment of the Riverfolk.[sblock=Sylvan]Hail to the day we shall meet again[/sblock]OOC: I think our horses should be able to cope with the desert conditions. They'll no doubt fail a few Fort saves, but they won't drop unconscious before they get a chance to rest. I think. But we could give them away - it seems that most of the weight they're carrying is their own feed! It just comes down to speed of travel.

OOC: I had thought the idea was to sell them the horses for the money? Sorry, playing catchup after internet problems and travel.

Jilsa smiles and nods, "
Thank you, Conuld, but we will be fine without much money. We have survived the trek here by living outside, and Jonka is a good hunter. We will find jobs at a nearby settlement, and we shall pay our own way
."
Indeed, all four of the Riverfolk look hardier and stronger. Lasair has been working them hard, and though they have been exhausted these past few weeks, they seem happy to be sweating off their shame.

If there are no more questions, Jilsa bids you all goodbye. She stands in front of Lasair, thinking about embracing her, but then she just nods awkwardly and backs away. Jonka shakes hands with Conuld and Cludge and nods at the others. Jilna stands back and nods at everybody. Jonda just stares at everybody, but his head inclines ever so slightly at Kurgahz. Then they leave, walking back in the direction from which you came, northeast.

Do they leave with the horses?

And as for camels... I fast forwarded through the towns, but I'm not sure how the math would work out anyway. But... It's up to you guys, you can sell the horses and buy camels or whatever, for SRD prices (we'll pretend it took place a week ago).

*Lasair allows a brief but warm smile as she nods back to Jilsa, a bit relieved that Jilsa did not attempt such an embarrassing public display of affection as a hug.*

[SBLOCK=Sylvan]"May you all find water and shade until next we meet,"[/SBLOCK] she says simply, in Sylvan.

OOC: What do camels cost? Do we need special saddles, regular saddles, or no saddles at all? I'd prefer to swap the horses for camels, so we can ignore the water issue, although, the additional expense does bother me (or Conuld, who also wishes he'd copied Mount to his spellbook - hurray for disposable horses).

Ah, I didn't realize there was no camel in the SRD. Well then, looking at its stats, it's stronger than the heavy horse (200gp), and more useful (it can last for days without water) despite its lower Con, but it's not trained for combat, so it's not as good as the heavy warhorse (400gp). I'd say 300gp per camel, with wiggle room to 250 if you drive a hard bargain.

As for the saddle, I think it would be an exotic saddle. I can't find a rule, but... I'm going to say that riding bareback is a DC 5 Ride check every hour, and if you fail, you fall from the mount (and take 1d6 points of damage). Does that sound fair?
