A Teacher for Laynie: Mystery at the Academy (Part 2)

*He manages to get to the door, and opens it quietly, slipping out into the teacher's lounge and then back into Sice proper, and finally out and in the clear.*

Vanitri will find a dark place to slip the cloak off before he heads back to find Lex.

 

[Rystil Arden]

*Vanitri slips off the cloak and heads back to Lex.*

"Well, you've been gone for a while," the Lex who is still awake comments, "And you're back, so you weren't caught, I take it. What did you find?"

 

[Bront]

"Kharisa Valpyren, but I probably should explain."

Vanitri goes into detail about what he found, including the ritual diagram, the Dark Lord 20 years ago, and the two staff members who were around back then. And then how Kharisa came into the library and looked at one of the books he had looked at, and was working on a ritual.

"Of course, it could be Rayne, but that seems... well, just not right given she's a half-elf."

 

[Rystil Arden]

"Hmm...well, I've heard of hypocritical bigots who rail out against things that they themselves are, but I don't want to believe it could be Rayne...Kharisa Valpyren...she's pretty shady, and I feel she probably has a dark past somehow."

 

[Bront]

"Well, she was researching a ritual for eternal life using an apparatus that looked an awful lot like what was in my vision. Or at least it was in one of the books there."

 

[Rystil Arden]

"Really? Is that what it was? Why was Rayne so afraid when she heard about it then--is eternal life so bad?"

 

[Bront]

"You need to sacrifice many sentient beings to use it."

 

[Rystil Arden]

"You need to sacrifice a sentient being to use it."
