A "Totally OT" forum?

I see a lot of OT topics in the General RPG Discussion forum. I was wondering if the idea has ever been tossed around to have a forum designed specifically for Off-Topic/General Discussions. Same rules as everywhere else on these boards, of course, and it would help to clean up the main forum.

It's definitely been tossed around, and the consensus every time it does so is that no one wants to be the moderator for for such a forum. So ... the general rule we try to follow is: a) try to get your posts in the most appropriate forum, and b) if it's totally off topic it probably should go in General where at least the mods can keep an eye on it. If people start going overboard on OT posts (and they sometimes do) we'll ask for a brief moratorium on them.

Oh and as a reminder to all concerned, while we allow OT posts in general, we don't permit OT *polls*. Majority ruled on that one -- people got sick of "tastes great/less filling" polls real quick.

If you look in the FAQ for the boards you'll see that this topic has been addressed by Morrus as well. I'll see if I can dig up the link for you...

How many times are people going to break the first rule of Nutkinland before the Demon Squirrel and his Maiden of Undeath rise up an smite us all until we can't be smote again?

Something else to keep in mind is that a lot of time a thread marked "OT" really isn't.
