Abusable character?

IMHO multi-classing primary spellcasters is a great way to get weaker, but more durable, characters. I do it for NPCs all the time.

It's hardly an abuse.

I would daresay that if he doesn't take Mystic Theurge and Practiced Spellcaster (twice), he's crazy. At least that way, by 7th level he can be caught up on caster levels (but not actual spells per day or known). Otherwise he's got a tough road to travel.
