AC question

Most DMs worth their salt won't let a fighter sleep in full plate without magical assistance, it's just too restrictive. This way, when setting up camp and resting (i.e. without their armour) if there is any unexpected hassle, their AC isn't totally down the pan.

For what it's worth (and off topic, as we all know that the real world has no bearing on the rules...), I've slept in chainmail. And I've slept in plate armor. And I'm here to tell you the plate armor was a lot more comfortable. In plate, I wake up stiff (as a result of not being able to shift position while sleeping...you're basically stuck in one pose all night) and you get a bit cold because the air gap between the armor and your body leaves you a lot of space to warm with body heat compared to wrapping yourself in a blanket. In chain, I found it hard to get to sleep at all until I was totally exhausted...unlike plate, which is self-supporting, the chain weighs down your torso and abdomen (especially if you're on your back) and adds effort to each breath you take. Also, the weight of the chain tends to kill the circulation in the arms and legs.

Heh...my dwarven fighter has her MW studded leather nightgown. She got it after the second bloody railroad Eberron adventure had us attacked EVERY SINGLE TIME WE WENT TO SLEEP. Or so it seemed at the time. But I got *so* tired of running around in no armor.

That works. By the RAW, sleeping in Medium or Heavy armor will cause you to be fatigued the following day (unless you have the Endurance feat, and even that only helps with Medium armor). In our (lower-level) groups, where there aren't extra sets of Bracers of Armor floating around, the tanks got tired of attacks in the middle of the night that found them unarmored. So, they all invested in chain shirts (the best Light armor) to sleep in. We refer to them as "chainmail jammies."

Hehe..

Our fighting types usually end up getting 'chainmail nightshirts' too.

But, there was a good point brought out, in that while Bracers might not stack with other types of armor (like Mage Armor, full plate or whatnot), it's 1) always on, so if your mage has used up his or her Mage Armors for the day, they can still benefit from some kind of armor bonus, and 2) it's good for heavy armor wearers against incorporeal creatures that ignore armor bonuses. Also, Bracers of Armor are good for Monks.

And, it's good to sleep in. :)

IIRC, sleeping in heavy armor will make you fatigued. BUT.... if you just stay up all night, there are no penalties.

Don't you love playing games with the rules..... :)
