Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

Right, thstwhat I'm saying: not that other ganes are less good (I have little to no opinions on Daggerheart as a game yet, haven't seen enough), or unsuccessful...but Daggerheart IMO represents a rather novel phenomenon in TTRPG history with fairly few direct parallels...in some key aspects, literally no direct parallels.
Your metrics feel off.

Scarcity is not related to anything beyond interest. Remember that it is essentially an extension of CR fandom. That doesn't necessarily translate to people playing it.

I mean look at Avatar and Cosmere. Huge Kickstarters. Who is playing them?

haha what? Scalpers gonna scalp I guess.

eBay loves Critical Role stuff. The goodie box for their Legend of Vox Machina Kickstarter typically go for $500 or more even if the box is open and parts are missing. Just the stuffed bear alone is typically listed for $50, and unopened ones go for $100 and up. The set of three letter openers? $100 and up.

And don't even think about the dice...

Over the years, folks have learned that if Critical Role puts forth a Kickstarter, back it with all you've got and eBay it a year later. They are always hot collectors' items.

Didn't say anything about scarcity: all that tells us is that sales surpassed business projections.

Daggerheart getting like 10% of the engagement qith the online tools that D&D Beyond gets? That says a lot of people have been axrively tomkering with the rules.

They literally juat started shipping the physical copies of the Cosmere RPG a week and a half ago: even so, the Cosmere RPG community has been heating up pretty rapidly, which is neither here nor there in regards to Daggerheart's current moment.

I'm not particularly into either game, have no intention of picking up either or playing in either. I'm not saying anything against Shadowdark, but Conve turn play is one thing...I am seeing way, way more about Daggerheart in the broader culture than Shadowdark. Like, people I know IRL off-line have heard of Daggerheart, not so much Shadowdark.
I'm in that boat. This discussion has got me interested in looking at Shadowdark, though.

Seems pretty easy to pick up, though it may take the d20 chasis the opposite direction to your personal tastes IIRC.
I just took a quick peek at some of it. It looks quick and easy, and it would be fun to play. However, given what I've seen of Daggerheart, I'd much rather play that than Shadowdark if given the opportunity.

Realistically, I'd be more than happy to play either if they were on offer (I even played Shadowrun for friendship's sake, so...), even if I am not in the mood to invest myself at the moment.
