Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

I’m very much considering running Shadowdark without initiative like Daggerheart.

Just not sure of how to let the DM go without a meta currency.
Just do it on failure. Shadowdark characters whiff often enough that it should work out. At least test it and see how it feels.

Vagabonds of Dyfed tries but it fails in my humble opinion

There is another one that is a single page and I’m curious but there isn’t much therez

Maybe if the player rolls an odd number on a d20, spotlight goes to GM?
But you wouldn't want the spotlight to always be "monster attacks!" Consider things like foretelling advancing danger, a cool development in the environment (that could help or hinder the characters), advance the torch timer a few minutes, etc.

The idea of something like Shadowheart is quite appealing though. Swap out the superhero fantasy for something far darker and grittier. A fiction-first OSR game. Hmm...

It's called Freebooters on the Frontier, and 2e is in play testing. Really clever take on fusing Dungeon world with higher GM authority through excellent move design and stats. Comes with a DCC inspired funnel even.

Like @newsnerd said: folks on YouTube are always looking for ways to bait viewers into engaging with their videos...and manufactured outrage is one of the easiest and most effective ways to do it. It doesn't matter if it's correct or not, the important part is that it makes you click the link. (All the better if they make you angry enough to leave a comment, or share the link.)

There are good channels out there, even good channels about D&D...but since they get less engagement than the clickbait-y ones, the algorithm tends to recommend them less and bury them under garbage.
I always ignore any youtube channel that has a ragey click bait title. It's a never ending battle.

Maybe. Gimme the size of DH their print runs first.
Fair, I'm basing it off of tge 500,000 characters created in Demiplane as of GenCon. Obviously tge game hasn't sold 500,000 copies...but the interest level us a different magnitude.

I'm just saying, it is a category mistake to say that Daggerheart looks like a Shadowdark level success. It is a different level.
