Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

Yeah. I really doubt they want to take down D&D. D&D brings tons of new players into the market, many of whom may move on to other pastures. D&D being here only helps Daggerheart grow.
take down and replace with nothing, definitely not. The assumption would be to take its position, not to just kill it, in which case they would then be the ones onboarding new players.

That being said, anyone who creates a new TTRPG with the goal to unseat D&D… has highly unrealistic expectations

What are you aiming at here? Does it matter to you whether DH is on its 1st or 5th printing? Is it a collector thing?
it has valuation issues, and errata issues, both of which are important to a significant chunk.
I suspect that the second run was just an "extend the run"; I bought just as things ran out, and had to wait for a new shipment to Amazon; this implies 2nd printing... but my book says "First printing."

Or Darlington printed x first run copies of which Amazon bought Y number..sold out and got more from Darlington presses X run. Doesn’t mean Darlington press was out but Amazon was and had to order more in this case.

On a personal level, id like to know...
1. When I can get a print run with eratta incorporated

2. Why there have been (I believe) 3 or 4 print runs ( of which I've bought 2 copies of DH) and had no eratta incorporated in the newer "printing"

Layout and layout checking isn't really that easy. It's a technical skill. I'm out of practice, haven't been doing it since the 90's. Well, I did actually do one product since then...
The real time sink is proofing. Both the initial proofreading, then post-edit second pass...
None of this was stuff I needed to do errata for.

Applying proofer's changes and editor's changes is not that quick, either. Often, it can require careful tweaking of the tracking/leading or repagination. (Repagination is a HUGE pain.)

Plus, it means new plates - if the print house has the original plates stored, popping them back on as is makes for much lower setup time... and cost.

And in this case, it makes sense that the plates are saved. Because they might have split up the print run in order fit the print queue but normally that's not a problem with rpgs because they rarely sell out this fast. (Print queues in a Covid-world if weird and a problem, not only availability of the presses but also paper. I think at least one book was split up in a few smaller spread out due to the paper of choice availability couldn't be guaranteed otherwise.)
