I think the rule for actions should be changed to where you can make:

two standard actions (non-combat only)
two move actions
or a move and standard action

Rule: Two standard actions
As part of your action you may take two standard action and make a 5' step instead of a double move action or a move/standard. But if your first standard action causes an AoO you must make a concentration check of DC: 10 + damage or successfullay pass a grapple check. If you succeed you may take your second standard action and if you second (SA) provokes an AoO you must make a concectration check DC: 10 + damage + damage from the first 1. (the second check might be to much let me know what you think)

example: say your a cleric and your fighter companion is surrounded and goes down at the hands of an undead. He is a 5' step away from you. You try to turn the undead (SA) take a 5' step to reach him the use your heal skill to stabilize him (SA).

I think you'd need to do some rebalancing with the spells: as mentioned in the old school haste thread recently, 2 spells per round is considered a really big deal.

But, if you did do the necessary rebalancing of spells, you probably wouldn't need your concentration check mechanic, so you could get rid of the standard/move distinction entirely and the game gets a little simpler.
