Adding stuff to DMGenie (FR Campaign)

Hey all,

so I have been messing around with DMGenie and have tried adding some stuff from the FR Campaign setting. So far I have just added a few races, but once I get into the more complicated things like FEATS that automatically apply stuff to your character, or are use activated it looks like it gets more complicated. Unfortunately the tutorial doesn't go into the more advanced methods of custom data entry and campaign customisation. Is there any good guidance on this? (nothing much on the dmgenie web page) Thanks,

-Will

Your best bet is to ask on the DMGenie message boards, or in the Yahoo Group for it. Both are linked on the dmgenie.com site.

I tried the Yahoo group, but it requires membership approval and it seems requests have been going into a Limbo state. :( That and the DmGenie messageboards don't work from my work PC ;)

The moderator of the Y! group is pretty slow about approving membership...

I agree that most of the good info is on the forums at http://www.dmgenie.com/smf/ (I'm one of the moderators there).

Unfortunately every time I go to register I get an error on the forums: "There is no GD-Library-Support enabled. The Captcha-Class cannot be used!"

Not very useful advice, but it might be enough to get you started.
Start off small with simple adjustment feats. A +10 foot movement feat for example. Then if you can think of a similar existing feat or ability look at how they are done.

The Help files are pretty decent at giving you the information on what the functions do if you have a basic understanding of coding.
I started my scripting adventures just by looking at existing feats and copy pasting and tweaking the scripting to make similar feats.
Some really good feats to see a whole variety of different things being done are the wild shape (attack modification, stat modification, all sorts of wonky things) and bardic music feat (great example of how to make a really complex menu). Just focus on a small part at a time, they can be a little overwhelming.
Most of my complicated scripting involves me going back to these two in particular and copy paste and editing the code.

I went from not knowing any VB coding at all to having coded nearly the entire Eberron series of books over at the EberronGenie Yahoo group.
Have fun and give it a go.
