D&D 5E adjusting 5E zombies to be like walkers?

Chris perkins ran a game recently at pax east and one of the party member got a neucrotic disease (somehow related to being dead before). I feel like mummy rot is 2 strong and wight might be 2 weak. What about showing symptoms of decay and losing a HP per week unless cure disease (almost like leprosy)

not keen on stealth. if anything some could be dormant and could have advantage? if stumbled into

Actually the simplest explanation is that all the people in TWD are hard of hearing. They regularly fire weapons with no hearing protection, frequently on full automatic and indoors. It's surprising they aren't completely deaf. ;)

They're also hard of vision, because they regularly walk past zombies to shoot(!) other zombies, and then get surprised while they're celebrating the kill by the zombie they just walked past. Heck, it's probably still in their peripheral vision.
