D&D 4E "Adult" Content in 4e Art

I do not like either nudity or gore. I am a female gamer.

This is what I voted for. I don't like gore or nudity in D&D art, but I'll go to town describing gore in my games. Ayup.

For the poll above, nudity and gore would be on a PG-13 level. So no sex or mutilating bodies. Sensuality and blood, some suggestive imagery or subject matter (like Frazetta's slave girl picture).

If its pg-13, then its neither nudity nor gore. Really. 'PG-13' doesn't allow for either.

If theres a picture of a brothel, or even a guy with slave girls, YES there will be breasts, yes there will be bottoms, and no, any amount of hair the owner might have will NOT always be covering everything in every pose and situation!

Worries, what worries? would you cover your kids eyes if they saw the Venus, or David? Probably not.
Art is art is art, let art be and let people see it for what it is. We're not asking for pornography or anything, just if you want a nude breast, paint a nude breast, if you don't, then don't bother hinting at nude breast (see my previous post). It's that simple.

The recent threads about cheesecake art and how women are depicted in D&D got me thinking about the last version of the 3.5 d20 liscense and what people's feelings were on the banned content that is typical in sword and sorcery style fantasy. Basically, moderate gore and nudity, when is it appropriate and when isn't it? Do you like the conan-esque subject matter? Is it to much for D&D or does it give a fantasy setting a more points of light feel?

That is essentially what I think as well.

For the 4e core rulebooks (and indeed anything not marked as "Mature Audiences Only") I think they're probably best off following the same guidelines as 3e, at least as regards gore and nudity.

Don't get too excited about the poll results. As of right now, 5 people have voted for "Yes, I like both nudity and gore like in Conan. I am a female gamer." I'm pretty certain that three of them are male.

The only thing that lies more than internet polls are politicians.

Are you sure? We should have a poll on polls vs. politicians!


IMHO, the art can be *sexy* at times, but it should never be anything inadequate for a 12-year-old. Suggest, not show.
