OOC: Is the group still planning on taking Gurg to the Inkwell for a drink, or is the group heading back to the Tower's Shard or some other Inn for an extended rest without getting that drink?

OOC: I was thinking of dropping Gurg off at the Inkwell, pre-paying the bartender for several rounds for him, and then going to the Shard for extended rest. After short rest, of course. Re: Cairn's aura, does it take you to the character's bloodied value?

That's easiest assumption, otherwise it would require us to count number of increases by 5 until you get over bloodied value. I don't think anyone has surge smaller then 5 for this effort to pay off.

*Nyar* The mental intrusion is almost audible, *Let's get Gurg drunk, and leave him with the watch, or tied up somewhere, we don't know if that tielfing can possess his body at will. Chain if we leave him tied up. *

OOC: Re: Cairn's aura, does it take you to the character's bloodied value?

OOC: Don't worry about the math. Since the party is taking an extended rest, it won't matter. Several of the PCs will be leveling up. I'll try to post XP a little later this evening.

Note: The PCs didn't actually go to any of the "location where treasure could be found areas". There will be no level treasure gained until they actually do so. Depending on where the PCs go, there is a good chance that most PCs will be gaining both level 4 treasure and level 5 treasure, sometime during level 5.

Unfortunately, the adventure had a 6 week hiatus in the middle.

So, players did not get to play in that timeframe, so the players do not get RP in that timeframe. It's not the players fault that this occurred, but it is what it is.

As per the LEB rules, the players who abandoned the adventure do not get any RP for their PCs.

4 RP Baern Apr 22 through Aug 22
3 RP Baern Oct 3 through Jan 2

4 RP Nyar Apr 22 through Aug 22
3 RP Nyar Oct 3 through Jan 2

3 RP Cairn Aug 13 through Aug 22 plus Oct 3 through Dec 23

3 RP Veruza Aug 13 through Aug 22 plus Oct 3 through Dec 23

1 RP Navara Nov 19 through Dec 18

From here out, Baern and Nyar gain another RP at the 2nd of each month, Cairn and Veruza gain an RP at the 23rd of each month, and Navara gains an RP at the 18th of each month. Course, those RP will only be assigned when XP and RP are assigned.

Dalvach, Baern, Nyar (total XP = 2065 * 2 / 3 = 1377)

525 XP, Complexity 3, Level 4 Reconnaissance Skill Challenge:
500 XP, 4 Level 2 Kolbold Dragonshield
450 XP, 3 Level 3 Common Gladiators
150 XP, 3 Level 3 Hobgoblin Cultist Watcher
440 XP, 10 Level 4 Deep Goblin Wretch

Dalvach, Baern, Nyar, Cairn, Veruza (total XP = 900 * 2 / 5 = 360)

200 XP, 1 Level 5 Hobgoblin Commander
350 XP, 1 Level 4 Elite Greenscale Hunter
350 XP, 1 Level 3 Elite Captain Warrik

Baern, Nyar, Cairn, Veruza, Navara (total XP = 1700 * 2 / 5 = 680)

1000 XP, 1 Level 4 Solo Gurg
350 XP, 1 Level 4 Elite Greenscale Hunter
350 XP, 1 Level 3 Elite Captain Warrik

Note: The levels for XP do not quite match the XP assigned. This is because ScorpiusRisk added some features to some of the monsters which upped their abilities and XP without upping their levels.

Totals:

1377 + 0 RP Dalvach
2417 + 7 RP Baern
2417 + 7 RP Nyar
1040 + 3 RP Cairn
1040 + 3 RP Veruza
680 + 1 RP Navara

If Baern or Nyar decide to go to level 6, just let me know. Again, treasure will be found soon in the adventure, but they will need to wait to gain their level 4 and 5 treasure until they actually find it.

Since Modest quit (or at least took an extended leave of absence without telling anyone), as per the rules, his PC doesn't get any RP. He also does not get any XP for the battle where I NPCed him.

renau1g, could you please approve the RP and XP? Thanks.

As you said, it's not our fault. And we waited it out. Why should we be punished for it? I'm not familiar with XP rules enough to call this either way, it just seems unfair.

OOC: All I know is what the LEB rule states:

"Each player earns one Reward Part (RP) full month of play in an adventure"

Although the English of this sentence is bad, the intent is clear. This would be no different than the group waiting for the DM to run the second half of a 2 part adventure and their PCs are in the tavern for a few months while the DM gets it ready.

Btw, the exact same thing should happen to my PC Grys in the Paper Chase adventure. The DM has disappeared for 5+ weeks, so I should not get any RP for Grys during that timeframe.

If you think this unfair, write up a proposal to change or clarify it. The proposal can specify that the change be retroactive.

OOC:
The intent is NOT clear:
"Each player earns one Reward Part (RP) full month of play in an adventure"

does not say 1 RP per month of ACTIVE play. We are still in the adventure. Besides, that would mean we should also create rules that specify what exactly constitutes hiatus (maybe no RP over christmass if DM goes to skiing)

The example you give is clearly new adventure (though continuation of the same setting). 'Playing' in the tavern counts as time-off as far as RPs are concerned. In our case we're in the middle of one (and not in the tavern) and you took over.

Obviously, if you rule it this way, we get less (assuming renau1g approves). I'm just whining, I will accept your ruling on this :( I just don't like it (we who don't DM advance slowly as is, we don't need skipping time).
