[Adventure] A Call for Lovers (DM: jbear Judge:Lord Sessadore)

Zuri recovers the pouch with the keys that Rain dropped to the floor, before picking up the sword. Not being especially skilled which such things, she slings it on her back, whilst being careful not to stay too long near the Barkburr trees as she sits down to rest a while.

"This spirit, let us now follow the elf and find it."

Shandra, slightly worse for the wear, is about to take a knee when she is rained upon by thorny splinters from the Jovian priests rage against one of the barkburrs. She covers her face with her arms and wide bladed sword for protection. Moving away from the volatile priest and the remaining barkburr tree, the elven avenger sits cross-legged in the grass. Storing her blade in the leather sheath on her back, Shandra looks at the others with whom she had fought beside.

"I am...sorry about your friends. My name is Shandra. I have been sent to this glade by Uma, who has tasked me with the protection of a man named Orlando. I cannot stay long, for a rival of Uma's, who she named as Ragnar, has sent an assassin after Orlando. It would seem that there is a witch by the name of Soryth who has plagued this land with issues, and this killing of Orlando would upset Soryth's plans. However, Uma believes other measures are possible for the defeat of Soryth that does not resort to killing an innocent person. As such, I have been tasked by Uma to track down this Orlando and keep him from harm. If Joven or his agents are telling you to follow me to Uma, I am afraid that will have to wait, as I must first attend to Orlando. Might you have heard of this person?"

Standing back up, Shandra readies her gear, and herself, for another journey through the inhospitable terrain of the island in search of Orlando.

OOC: Shandra will spend a healing surge to get up to 28/30 hp. This leaves her with 6/7 surges.

Wat concentrates on the ritual... "Follow the elf or seek out Uma on my own. If my sole concern is the welfare of my friends, then which way do the winds blow?"

OOC: Right now all Wat cares about is curing his friends. They are more important to him than stopping the assassin, which after all will cause problems with Soryth's plan if he succeeds. Given a choice he will choose friends over a stranger every time.

[sblock=OOC]I wanted to PM you jbear, but your box appears to be full. Does this mean that Themes will not be joining the adventure? I've been following the thread for quite a while, waiting for a verdict...or something.[/sblock]

OOC: OK, I'm a bit confused here as to where to go next. My own thought is that, one way or another, stopping Ragnar's assassin cousin Basal is going to take more than three PC's. Shandra introducing us to Uma would be helpful anyway.

"The omens point to following the elf..."

Wat looks back at the lignified trio, a sadness grips him but he tries his best to push it down.

"They'll be safe for now, let's go."

Wat set off after the elf.

Wat and Zuri leave the unfortunate companions behind as they follow behind the elven avenger through the trees on the other side of the nightmare hollow. Ascending through ever denser forest, they eventually emerge into an open meadow atop the hill they've just climbed. The place has weather and foliage present only in the height of summer, and a lone tree grows at its center.

Like an ancient goddess, a female fey, her eyes as radiant as twin suns, emerges from the tree. Her appearance calls to mind Juliana's description of a woman fairer than any other.

"Peace," she says. "I would share words with you..." A frown wrinkles her face for a moment. "Three... but where are the others?"

Zuri points and says sorrowfully, "Poisoned and held by the aggressive trees in the clearing down through the trees there."
