[Adventure] A Call for Lovers (DM: jbear Judge:Lord Sessadore)

The hamadryad's eyes narrow at Zuri's words as anger crosses her face. Hard eyes fall upon Wat. "Will your anger and concern for your friends blind you like the raging bull, Priest of the Storm? Step forward."

When Wat approaches the dryad reaches out to touch him on the forehead...

[sblock=Wat] Wat senses no danger or bad intention. As he nears however he senses the aura that surrounds her, one of immense power. [/sblock]

Zuri was uncertain about this encounter. The last hamadryad they'd met had after all charmed her into attacking her friends. But as Wat didn't turn on her, she visibly relaxed.

Shandra tensed slightly, waiting to see exactly what the outcome of the hamadryad's touch on Wat would be. Uma had sent her to see this "spirit" on the hill, so should would give Uma (and by proxy, the hamadryad) the benefit of the doubt this one time, but she still made ready for action, should the situation warrant it.

His memories of the recent encounter with the Barkburrs flash before Wat's eyes the moment the dryad lays her smooth hand upon his forehead. His companions see his legs buckle but she catches him with her other hand, keeping him in on his feet effortlessly, though it is clear he is no longer holding his own weight. The contact is brief though to Wat it is terrible as he is forced to relive the loss of those dear to him once more. As the dryad allows him to sink to his knees, a warmth begins to flood through his body and his anger and frustration evaporate like morning dew beneath a hot sun. When the feeling subsides only calm remains as he now knows what he must do.

His companions meanwhile only see the invoker on his knees, eyes closed, head fallen onto his chest, like one in mourning or perhaps prayer. The dryad looks at them both, her eyes coming to rest on Zuri. "You have stumbled across a most vile creature. One that infects and possesses seedlings. I have been unable to deal with this blight ..." Her hand rests gently on her belly and you notice there is a slight swelling. "I am in a fragile state and cannot risk the infection spreading... But as I have told your friend ... Wat ... If you act swiftly, there is still hope for those who have been turned. He has already taken the first step in destroying the Burr. You must destroy the other as well. At the core of its trunk, if you dig down, you will find a small pod. The nectar inside this pod, rub it upon your friends and the process will reverse." Sadness mars her features before she continues. "There will be enough to free only two of your friends. I am sorry. I know this is a terrible choice that you must make ... Go quickly. but please, return. I would share words with you about the man you seek."

With a sad smile she steps back into the tree. A moment later Wat is back on his feet ...

GM: I was unsure how Wat was going to react. As he is obviously upset and being aggressive I needed to know if he was going to allow the dryad to make contact with him. If he had reacted aggressively it would have mattered.

Wat immediately heads back to the place where they left their friends behind. At a safe distance he raises his hand to call down the lightning until it fells the other tree.

OOC: Unless something intervenes, Wat will just spam Divine Bolts from 10 squares away until the other barkburr dies.

Nothing can save the other barkburr from Wat's divine fury. Bolt after bolt rips into the tree, sending out peal after peal of thunder after each strike. Splinters of bark fill the air. When the dust settles only a smoking stump remains where the tree once stood.

GM: No special test is needed to recover the nectar either. SO long as you follow the dryad's instructions you encounter the pods. Wat has seen in detail through his connection to the dryad exactly what to do once you retrieve it. So feel free to RP away (the way you decide it works from here is how it works) and get everyone back into the game.
