[Adventure] A Call for Lovers (DM: jbear Judge:Lord Sessadore)

Shandra joins the others in their emotional decision to let Gray seek peace and sheds a tear for another life lost at the hands of evil fey creatures. Perhaps this was a part of her test, to see if she could withstand emotional as well as physical trauma at the hands of her enemies, but she refused to become as cold and callous as those who would inflict such unnecessary harm on others. Silently vowing revenge on Soryth and her ilk, Shandra bows her head in prayer to Dayna, asking for guidance in her actions, for swift steps in the moments to come, and that she and her new found companions might make it to the assassin before yet another life was needlessly lost.

"Let us be swift in step and light in heart, now. More time for mourning will be given to us when our task is finished. Let us right the wrongs in this place so that all can live in peace. I move with all haste. Keep up as you may."

And with that, Shandra quickly gains her bearings and heads off after Porphirio/Orlando, and his would-be assassin.

Rain had sheathed the old blade that her swordmaster had originally claimed from a passing hobgoblin, before giving it to her. She still felt attuned to it, but she knew that she would likely break the attachment for the one Zuri had passed to her.

Rain, currently testing the balance of the blade found in the glade with her fingers, flicks the sword up into the air and catches it with the same hand by the hilt. She and Zuri were ready to go in whichever direction the companions favoured, though Zuri cautioned, "Remember, the hamadryad said that we should return to her so that she could share what information she knew about our quest."

Rain collected the remains of the nectar pods, just in case the hamadryad could make use of the small amounts of nectar residue remaining.

GM: Of course you can rest.

The sword is a +1 Farbond Spellblade (Longsword).

OOC: Splendid and thanks! Throwing a magically returning sword lightsabre fashion may not be Rain's greatest move, but is better than a dagger. [Ranged Basic Attack Longsword, Range 5/10 +6 vs AC, D8+2 damage]

Rain spends a surge with Sabynha's Song of Rest putting her up to effectively 34 hp.

I think most of us have gone though a second milestone (for either the recovery or the gain of an action point) considering the skirmish with the pixies and then the Vine Horror?

I think these statblocks below are correct.

OOC: Technically, because of the wording of both the Farbond weapon and the Intelligent Blademaster feat you have, if you throw it, you use your Int for the attack & damage - it's just like making an MBA now. :)

OOC: Ah, that'll be even cooler! I haven't got a computerised builder to hand to use to check how it calculates the numbersfor Farbond Spellblade (though if I remember I'll check the old offline one on Thursday).

OOC: The key lies in the fact that Intelligent Blademaster just says to use Int for 'Basic Attacks' which includes both MBA and RBA, which means it applies to Rain's thrown daggers as well, in case it ever matters. It's a really slick little combo :D

OOC: Hmm. I didn't quite read it like that. I was hung up on the use of melee weapon at the end of the feat description.

Feat reads - Intelligent Blademaster: Replace Intelligence modifier instead of Strength modifier when making a basic attack with a melee weapon.

Looking around the web here and there, it looks like there are other cases where it has been taken the same way as you describe, at least for the Farbond Spellblade. By the way, I'm not complaining! Thanks!

OOC: Yeah, that's the other half of the equation. That's why it won't work with a bow or a crossbow, or shuriken, but because you have a melee weapon that can be used as a heavy thrown in your farbond spellblade, it works. I got this from the CharOp boards and they typically don't post about iffy combos, and when they do it will be pretty clear when "this is ffy, so check with your DM." :)

Shandra watches the happy reunion from a distance long enough to ensure those she has newly met have had success. She then turns and heads back towards the hill. Rain gathers the sword found at the base of the barkburr tree, examining it with admiration. There is no nectar left for her to take to the dryad. On shaky legs Sabynha gets to her feet, while Wat sits and gathers his breath. The wind gently blows through the now still glade.

Somewhere an assassin moves through the woods searching for its prey.

GM: I prefer those conversations happen in the OOC thread. Cheers.

Are you waiting for me to move this on?

"Where do we go now? Is there still time to stop the assassin?" Sabynha comes back to her senses, spurred by the realization that every minute resting is a minute less they have to reach Orlando. She grabs up her own blade from where it fell, and wipes it down. She almost sheathed it, before thinking twice and opting to hold it; this is hostile territory, it seems.

"And who is that?" The vistani indicated the newcomer by pointing her sword even as she began walking.

OOC: I think so.

"And who is that?" The vistani indicated the newcomer by pointing her sword even as she began walking.

Zuri responds, "Her name is Shandra and she helped us fight the trees and whatever that other thing was. She was apparently sent by Uma to look for the assassin too."

Rain whispers to Sabynha, This suggests to me that that Uma keeps a very close watch on Ragnar, but I don't think we should get involved in who is spying on who if we can help it.
