Fracture sits still, arms at his side, a blank look on his face. Water sprays on him as the boat rocks, but Fracture does not react, he just leaves his mouth slightly ajar. Looking out into the water, Eryto prepares his deception, only to remember that despite his enthusiasm, he's never actually fished before. As such, he made up his lack of knowledge with ferocious enthusiasm. As Orthos dips his mangy tail in the water on the opposite side of the boat from the gnoll, Eryto perches with one foot on the railing with his massive spiked chain, striking at shadows in the water. Naturally, he catches nothing.

[sblock=OOC]Renau1g, I need a token on the map for my beast companion, Orthos. Also, we may have chosen the absolute worst party split for such a deception as this.[/sblock]

I'm assuming the companion is with you on the boat?

You guys should have called the ship "The Obvious Adventurers" or something... ;)
[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]I had envisioned hiding in the lower deck... Though that boat is probably too small to even have one. This is going to be tricky. :D

Oh, and I now see the advantages of alcoholism!

Currently, Ghorgor's shield is straooed to his back so I only count -2 skill check penalty.

Stealth (1d20+2=15)

Initiative (1d20+2=17)

Ghorgor remembers the key to good stealth; do not giggle. So he does not. Instead he sips on a mug he stole from the Hanged Man inn and filled with his Cask of Liquid Darkness (TM). One way or another, this was going to be interesting!

Those on the land were expertly hidden, but those on the boat failed to bluff their attackers. The sahuaguin appeared from beneath the depths, armed and ready for battle. One is a large, behemoth, carrying an equally large trident. 3 are wielding smaller tridents, and 2 have tridents, but also are wearing a kelp robe. From what you can gather, they are female.

[sblock=Enemy Actions]
Surface and draw weapons for surprise round. Init is 17, but higher bonus than Ghorgor so Fissure and Eryto are up

[sblock=OOC]stonegod, if we both attack S3, I can get a damage bonus from one of my racial traits (+2 to damage if attacking enemy adjacent to 2 or more allies) due to my animal companion.

Also, renau1g, how would attempting to move in the water be handled?[/sblock]

[sblock=movement]
Well, jumping into the water's part of a move action, the boat's railing's not high enough to require an athletics check. The water's deep enough that a swim check will be required:

SWIM

Swim or Tread Water: The check is usually part of a move action, but it can be part of any of the creature’s actions that involve the creature moving.
DC: See the table.
Success: You swim at one-half your speed, or you stay afloat and tread water.
Fail by 4 or Less: You can’t move any farther as part of your current action, but you tread water.
Fail by 5 or More: You can’t move any farther as part of your current action, and you sink 1 square.
Uses Movement: Count the number of squares you swim as part of your move.

Water Athletics DC
Calm 10 [/sblock]

When combat begins, the dull look on Fracture's face vanishes. It was if a flicker of light suddenly flared within what was once a goliath. His moves are fluid, done without thought, at a speed with belies his former lethargy.

Fracture slips beside the gnoll and with a heavy thump, slams his staff into the boat causing it to rock. It appears as if it will overwhelm one of the enemies before them. As it clambers aboard to escape, Fracture whips out his staff at its knees, causing it to fall; he follows up with a quick rap to the back of its head, keeping it off balance. [sblock=OOC]Shift to X9. Undeniable Enticement vs S3: Will 22, pulled 1 square to W7, 20 damage w/ flurry, knocked prone, and cannot shift. Fracture gains +3 to AC TENT.[/sblock][sblock=Fissure (Undeniable Enticement)]Fracture—Male Revenant Iron Soul Monk 3
