(Adventure) A hunting trip

Aranel comes back around, having circled up and over the little cliff. The have of the Light ahead gives her the outline of the Ormfene, <allowing her to shoot if she chooses next round>...
Katherine fires her crossbow, scoring a hit < 3 HP>.

Remi fires again, missing the Ormfene again <sorry>.
Telerin is up...

"Go to Aranel! Help her, but don't get yourself killed!" Telerin said quietly, not wanting to distract Katherine, but strongly to the wolf, nodding him off in the direction she had gone. He then grabbed another of the arrows given to them as a gift, and let it loose at the Ormfene. It needed to be killed quickly...

OOC: No problem. We're 1st level, it happens. :)

Hoping to kill the beast before it decides to come down and play hand-to-claw Remi draws & fires the last of the arrows he recieved from Bron.

Aranel could just hear the Bards words, and she felt a strange urge to charge the creature. I always wondered what drove people to suicide. Now I Know...
Shaking her head she lined up her bolt with the back of the creatures neck and made a note to either hide or run off. Hiding first might be good...it might be attracted by her movement and give chase.
She let loose her bolt at the creature and immediatly dived behind the nearest cover of any kind.

((...^^; Hide...))

Katherine keeps up a steady stream of encouragement, though she is rapidly running out of synonyms for "abomination". While talking, she cocks her crossbow and tries for another lucky shot.

Telerin's arrow flies true, striking the deformed Ogre in the arm <4HP>.

The monster roars and hurls another rock, to no avail. Then, it moves from the view of those below...

Aranel sees the Ormfene back up, starting towards her direction, meaning to fade into the woods, probably to sneak up on the party. It s a mere 30' away...
Her bolt hits it in the chest, dissapearring amidst the offal-caked rags that serve it as clothing <7HP including Sneak>.
A streak from around back of it hits the creature with savagery, Whitefang biting on to the Ormfene's left calf <7HP,no Trip>.

The thing roars again, staggering backwards, towards the Bluff...

Whitefang leaps free <Ref 12 DC, he got a 19> as the Ormfene falls over the edge, landing with a sickening *thud* at the base of the little bluff, right in front of the Companions.
Above, Aranel and Whitefang can be seen, the wolf's jaws slick with black blood, his tongue lolling to one side. The Light spell shows above, casting a hazy illumination down through the rain and mist prevading the Wood.

The Ormfene does look to be an Ogre, though one changed horribly. The thing is massively muscled, abnormally so, it's arms looking as if some Giant had twisted them while they were formed of clay and then let them set. The face is lop-sided,the mouth unable to close fully due to it's oversized jaws.
It's dead eyes look back at you , blank and as inky black as the deepest Abyss.

Telerin carefully stepped forward, another arrow ready just in case. He glanced up a moment to look to Aranel and Whitefang, then back at the strange creature.
"Whitefang..." he said loud enough to be heard, but still quietly enough that his voice wouldn't attract too many animals, "Come down here...good job," he then spoke a bit quieter to the others, "Anyone have any idea what happened to this thing...?"

Making her way down carefully she reached the bottom and looked at it, nudged it with her foot. "That's for giving me reason to throw up." She muttered before moving off to scuff her boot as though it had something contagious. "I've not seen anything that ugly in a long while." She told them with a faint smile. They were all alive and it wasn't. Score one point for them...
