[Adventure] Desolation Island (DM: jsb420; JUDGE: covaithe)

Ironheart looks reluctantly back towards the water and his large frame shudders. "We could cross the beach at the bottom of the cliff, and come to the tower from behind. That would involve climbing the cliff and circling around it beneath all those arrow slits, though.

Do the tower's defenders have strong night vision? We could wait for the cover of darkness.

Do they know we're coming?"

"I don't believe we know anything about the defenders at all or if there are any to be certain. But if I can get with a hundred feet of those door, I could quite possibly make it there undetected. I could then open the doors and the rest of you could rush in."

OOC: I could use my Thought-Eater armor with a 1 PP augment to give myself total concealment for 2 turns and then make stealth checks at -5 to approach the tower. (Though I won't have an action to open the doors until I become visible again.) Even if they notice me, they'll have a hard time hitting me. Also, with my thieves' tools, I'm +14 to Thievery, so opening the doors will not be a problem.

Ixenvalignat, having been silent up until now, offers his opinion, "Well, if we can't hide, we might as well act like we're here on purpose. Perhaps these fellows are more hospitable than those we have met so far," the dragonborn tears strip from his white tunic and wraps it around the handle of his sword, "I could try to talk with them. If it works, we get in without a fight. If not, old Finnean has a much needed diversion." He looks at his 'flag-of-truce' and shrugs at the swashbuckler, "Aw who am I kidding. Go Finnean. We'll be right behind you." he unwraps the strip of cloth and hefts his sword, testing the weight.
OOC: Son of Meepo: Go ahead and try to get to the door. We'll make a run for it when you get the door open (or if you get into trouble).

With a nod, Finnean focuses on the armor he's wearing. He begins to fade gradually from view as he moves away from his allies trying not to make too much noise.

[sblock=Actions]Minor: Thought-Eater Armor (Augment 1) Finnean gains total concealment from creatures farther than 2 squares away until the end of his next turn.
Move: 6 squares closer to the entrance. Stealth (1d20+12-5=21)
Move: 6 squares closer to the entrance. Stealth (1d20+12-5=19)[/sblock]

OOC: Those are some /very/ good rolls. Can't wait to see the fruits of your success.
EDIT: Jsb, is it okay if I swap out my Spectral Image for Shield right now? Or is it too late? Cause I kinda forgot to tell you guys I wanted to swap it out.

So is the idea that we stay back while he works on the lock, until he's spotted, then charge in to rescue him if necessary?

Also, Son of Meepo, since you're not planning on attacking anyway, you could get 4 more squares of move by double running. You'd grant combat advantage, but you're already betting a lot on not being spotted anyway. (I believe you get a Stealth penalty for moving more than 2 squares whether you run or not?)

OOC: Running increases the Stealth penalty from -5 to -10.

The halfling fades from view, and begins to move towards the tower, covering the distance quickly. Making his way to the tower's doors proves a bit more challenging as one of the guards (a goblin wielding a crossbow Finnean's keen eyes notice) decides at that moment to empty its bladder over the wall. But with superior skill known to those of Finnean's race, he manages not to attract any attention from the guards above.
GM: Son of Meepo: Finnean is able to make it to the doors without being spotted.

At the door, Finnean quietly retrieves his lockpicks and quickly works the lock. Once the door is open, Finnean tries to keep himself out of site, but staying near the door before signaling his allies to make a run for the tower. Unfortunately Finnean got a bit too close to the unlocked door and nudged it open a bit.

[sblock=Actions]Minor: Retrieve Thieves' Tools.
Standard: Unlock Door Thievery (1d20+14=31)
Move: Hide Behind Door Stealth (1d20+12=13)[/sblock]
