Once again Cyrus's blades dance across the battlefield, as he ducks and weaves through the crowd of zombies not letting them have a target to chew on; his rapier, cutting down the first zombie with a flick of his wrist. He then rolls past the halfling and nearly takes out a zombie that looked to chew on Finn's backside. (

Jesse keeps steady on the boat and stares at the green light intently. "That light, I just can't seem to take my mind off of it." Jesse studies it, poking and prodding with his will and mind. (

Finnean easily keeps his balance on the deck of the Loose Lady, he parries an attack then ripostes, stabbing a zombie once, but also missing once. (

Ixenvalignat continues to maneuver the Loose Lady as the foul dead clamber over her sides. One of them, however gets too close for comfort, "Back off!" he growls as one attempts to wrest the oars from his hands. The dragonborn's eyes seem to blaze with fire, "or I will introduce you to the second death!"

Finnean barely manages to push the remaining dead one over the side, but it is stubborn and clings to the ship’s gunwale. Before he is able to finish off the zombie, the
Loose Lady begins to pitch and roll wildly in the surf. Everyone must now turn their full attention to surviving long enough to get ashore. Powerful waves continue to crest over the ship’s slight gunwales, drenching everyone.
The waves are now threatening to capsize the
Loose Lady. Rogar had originally designed her to be shallow of draft while being flexible to navigate underground rivers, not to sail in rough seas. Battered as the ship rides the peaks and troughs, everyone desperately holds on.

Now just barely 10 meters away from the shore, the
Loose Lady stabilizes as she rides the wave in, picking up speed every second. She is deftly able to avoid teeth-like rocks protruding from the churning waters. At the last minute, the craft’s bow dips forward, pitching everyone into the waters, only to be carried forward by incoming waves, and then strewn across the beach. The boat, barrel-rolling a few times, just misses Jesse’s and Ixenvalignat’s prone bodies as it slides to a stop atop a rocky outcropping to be battered by more waves; each wave threatening to snag the boat with the retreating water.
You have reached the beach, but it is not deserted. Some stronger-looking Dead Ones have also been washed up on the beach to the west of you. Beyond the prone zombies, in the pale green glow, you can see an old, beached wreck, its broken hull canted at a steep angle, lying on a rocky beach about 40 meters away. You can just make out a ghostly figure standing atop it.

That skill challenge qualifies as an encounter and as such, the PCs will gain a Milestone (+1 AP).
FYI: Complete Success would have seen you make it to the island, fully leveled up and refreshed from an Extended Rest.
Failure would have been still making it to the island but you would have been separated, you would have lost your Action Point gained from this being a Milestone AND the Loose Lady becoming damaged and must be repaired in order to leave the island. | |
