OOC: Passive Perception good enough

Once the gnome vanishes, Tondrek ignores everything. He ignores Little Big Girl grasp at the air. He ignore the rushing guards. He ignores the crowd. He ignores Scary Drow trying to hide (but doing a poor job; railing no good, need bigger cover. Walking cover? Portable hiding device? Hmm...) Instead, he trundles over to the nearest now-forged and kneels over. He seemed to be fascinated by some sort of magical vines attached to the now-forged. Inspecting them carefully, he worked fast to save the constructs. He liked them, even if they attacked him, and maybe they'd explain their badness.

OOC: Arcana and Heal to id and treat so we have some living now-forged for questioning. Arcana 34, Heal 21

[sblock=ooc]Well, I'm not quite ready to give up on the gnome. We should be able to locate him with a perception check against his Stealth. In fact it's automatic if anyone can beat it with their passive perception, plus we can make active checks with minor actions.

Roswyn, who has terrible Perception, will actually spend two minors for two active checks (since the first one bombed).

Perception (1d20+2=13)
Perception again (1d20+2=22) Wow, natural twenty on the second check, she might even be able to find him!

If so, she will attack using Grasping Shadows. If not, she'll ready an attack with Grasping Shadows, to trigger if anyone else can call out his location.

I'll go ahead and roll a grasping shadows attack now, either way. (knockout rather than kill, if that matters.)

Grasping Shadows vs. invi-gnome (1d20+11=26, 1d8+8=15) Probably good for a hit (vs. Will), if he can be located... this also slows the target on a hit.[/sblock]

"Don't let the pest get away!" Roswyn calls out. She peers around, trying to spot any trace of the invisible gnome, orb held ready...

Roswyn: 23/39 5/7(9) AP: 1;

Tondrek vaugely hears the gnome and glances, but doesn't see anything.

OOC: Its a minor to make a roll, but its lower than his 19 passive. 1d20+9=15. Still doing as above.

Tondrek moves over to the warforged and can immediately tell with further inspection that the vines are not arcane in origin. The artificer can tell though that the vines are part of the warforged, like it was made this way. Pulling off one of the vines, Tondrek can see it was pulling out the fluids of the warforged, and put in a red sticky fluid. It seems too late, the warforged was poisoned.

[sblock=Nature 20]You recognize the vines are native to Thelanis, the feywild. They often cling to plants which benefit from the poisonous nature of the vines for protection. When the host plant dies, the vines try and sustain themselves by drawing out the remaining nutrients from the host and putting their poisonous stores into the host.[/sblock]

Looking around, Roswyn and Tondrek hear the footsteps of the gnome as he pads away, but then it suddenly stops. Perhaps he jumped off the bridge?

Tamarand and Shava duck on the bridge above as the guard approaches. He doesn't appear to see them. Tamarand does notice something else though. A gnome's belt pouch fell open when he was killed, and inside the drow notices a Khyber shard in the shape of a gear. The drow immediately recognizes it as piece of the device stolen from his homeland.

[sblock=ooc]Ok then, I guess we don't have much choice.[/sblock]

Roswyn sighs and lets her orb drop into her sleeve. She stalks directly over towards the approaching guard captain.

"What in Khyber is going on?" she demands before he can say anything. "Your buddy tells us you want to see us, then he leads us straight into an ambush! An ambush set by a warforged disguised as you! Just what are you involved with?"

Tondrek distractedly points Rohna in the direction he heard footsteps. Sneaky gnome go that way then stop.

He was more focused on the vines, however. He mumbled to himself as he tried his best to save the 'forged Fey vines... not here.. gnome fey once ... maybe they get... illusion too... poison when dead... maybe antidote... don't die bad now-forgey...[sblock=OOC]Hopefully his directions are enough to point out the square he last heard the gnome in.

Crit the nature roll (24). Doing his best with a Heal to treat, but its probably hopeless. Either use the 21 from before or the new suck of 11.[/sblock]

Tamarand will rush over to the piece of the device and hastily shove it into his pack, barely looking at it as he does.

The fiery outline of the goliath's hammer becomes solid again as the fire is extinguished. With a shake of her head, Mitra starts moving down the 50ft in front of her rocky friend and herself toward the others feeling along as she goes. "That invisibility doesn't last long right Roswyn? He's either hiding among the bodies or jumped over the side."

OOC - Use double move so Mitra can cover 10 squares. Since enemies can't move through each others spaces, if the spirit bear encounters a square she can't move through then we found our invisible gnome.
