The passages are virtually devoid of any motion, the most perceptive of you being able to spot keen signs of travel and motion through the region. As you step down the tunnel, you find that there is an incline that steepens gradually into the darkness. The air is moist, without much evidence of where this moisture is coming from. This area, after a few hundred feet, appears to be carved like a sort of dungeon...
These stairs appear to be intentionally uneven, making them much more difficult to move through swiftly. Attackers that would have never used these stairs before would be at a disadvantage, forced to watch every step carefully or find themselves prone to miss a step, slip, and tumble forwards uncontrollably into the defenders waiting arms.
Signs of white-wash that has deteriorated over the years remains along the upper wall. This signals that perhaps, at one time, this location was kept much more cleanly and orderly than it currently appears. Oddly enough, there seem to be some signs of deteriorated boards that at one time were nailed into the corners of the tunnel, allowing wheeled vehicles to make downwards motion at increased speeds, and to provide an incline for moving vehicles upwards. Only one such vehicle could ever traverse through the cavern, perhaps there was some form of traffic control here to keep two vehicles from crashing into each other and killing the drivers...
After admiring these features, everyone except for Shariff hear what sounds something like miners below. Hammers and picks hitting against the earth and stone below.
Silvercat and Devlin can hear more detail:
You can identify what sounds like 5 powerful picks being jammed into the earth, and some kind of sawing or drilling device mauling into the earth.
With the group unable to come to a consensus of what to do next, Devlin decides to take the initiative. He approaches Sullivan and helps himself to one of his sunrods. "Don't mind if I borrow this, do you?" He then slides the sunrod under his packstrap on his shoulder to keep his hands free to operate his crossbow and heads down the stairs as silently as possible. "You guys stay here and I'll be right back."
Gregorian shrugs and only says "The control room that must have controled those vehicles decent and assention would probably hold any controlls of the gollems, I would think. I would also think it be close to the opening of this passage to better see what's happening here. But then again, if they are using gollems, then they probably have magic enough to make proximity secondary. If that's the case, it could be anywhere." He continues with the others slowly, giving Devlin time to scout.
As you slink down the passageway deeper into the cavern, your sunrod illuminates the area nicely. After a while, the noises seem to be creeping up right upon you, but then they seem to fade away -farther into the cavern. After a bit you notice two 2.5 foot wide holes in the wall. One to the left, one to the right, each mostly unnoticable from the rest of the cavern. The sounds still seem distant, perhaps a bit farther down the cavern...
