Adventure: Escort Duty (DM: KarinsDad, Judge: TBD)

As Jasper goes to pay the inkeeper, Sirrah grabs Jasper's hand as it comes from the pouch.

"Some claim poverty to negotiate a lower price... But as I told you, I am not here for your gold."

Sirrah takes his own gold coin from his pouch and hands it to the innkeeper before releasing Jasper's hand.

Jayce grew weary of trudging through the wind and rain, but didn't complain outwardly. He quietly watched his companions reactions to the weather, gauging their ability to handle unexpected difficulties.

He spent several minutes shaking the water out of his traveling garments, only to catch the end of Sirrah's demands.

Jayce quietly removes his own gold piece, placing it on the table. "I agreed to your terms in Sharn. Something warm to eat would be nice."

He then walks over the fire and greets the patrons close to there, "Evening. Quite the storm we have tonight."

"Yes I agreed to escort him to his sister. But at no point did I agree to be Jasper's showpiece when he wanted to strongarm an innkeeper into getting his own way. If our employer wishes to negotiate separately for those services, he is more than welcome to."

Marshal Hilkalas has remained dry all the way, thanks to his magic, and walks galantly into the tavern. Frowning his nose at the smell of wet dogs, he watches the exchange of the undead and his patron with interest.
At his turn he says "Surely, although I doubt you could fit my standards." he hands over the gold piece as if it was worthless. For the moment, he remains standing. The fact that this was an inn didn't mean it was safe.
"Do not drop your guard in this place, its not safer than outside, if more confortable." He thinks into the heads of each of his team mates alternatively.

Jayce gets a few grunts in return. More of an acknowledgement of his existence than actual conversation. There are two groups there at the moment, three men dressed like farmers at one table and two men that look like local toughs at another. Neither group seems particularly interested in the newcomers.

"Yes I agreed to escort his daughter. But at no point did I agree to be Jasper's showpiece when he wanted to strongarm an innkeeper into getting his own way. If our employer wishes to negotiate separately for those services, he is more than welcome to."

Jasper looks at Sirrah as if he grew a third eye at this comment. He walks quickly away to an empty table near the fireplace, trying to avoid the elf, keeping Pumpkin between himself and Sirrah.

Tana, also quite dry as a side effect of the arcane wards she uses to protect herself, has always had trouble taking the advice to avoid saying anything if she could not say anything nice. Not that she often had much that was not nice to say, it was just that in the normal course of events she was quite talkative. However, between the rain -- no matter how little it affected her -- and the company, she found herself saying little. "Here you go," she said, handing over a coin.

Jayce pulls one of the chairs close by, not from the table of any of the men already seating, and sits near the fire. He looks back over toward Jasper, "Hey Jasper, what direction did you say your sister was from here?"

OOC: Fixed my last statement. Misremembered the exact mission details. (Because I'm in 6 or 7 pbp games so it's sometimes hard to keep them all straight).

"Well, it's east of here. There's a game trail that I 'spect I can find. It's been a few years, but it shouldn't be too hard to find. Tomorrow is the problem though. It's pretty rough out in the shrubs. Not like these main roads where the guards sometimes patrol. I 'spect that the monsters keep away from the main roads, otherwise, the guards would just kill them all sooner or later. But the shrubs, well, that's another story." Jasper replies as Pumpkin lies down at his feet, pretty much worn out from the long days walk.

The innkeeper comes over and start setting out food and drink.

OOC: Yeah, I figured. Jasper wasn't looking at you strange cause of the typo, but because of your intimidation and your statement here.
