Adventure: Food of the Gods (DM: ryryguy, Judge: renau1g)

Azryah winces as she is hit and runs after the dagger-wielding man who created the cloud. Stopping just outside the foliage.

"Don't think you can get away that easily," she says to him. "My vengeance shall be swift and complete; your death painful."

She charges in at him and swings her sword. The branches of the bush seems to get in the way a bit, but she still scores a minor hit on him. Merkari's wrath swells in her and she can feel his mantle of power forming once again. As before, light radiates out of her body, resolving itself into a brilliant cloak about her back and shoulders.

Yet despite the feeling in her veins, it seems her god is playing a cruel trick on her, and the light seems to effect the man only barely, if at all.

[sblock=reason for edit]I didn't notice until I posted that I rolled for my save on a d10. Small wonder I failed. *facepalm* Sorry I'm being a total doofus about stuff like that this combat. Not sure where my head is.[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]Argent Mantle does hit (his Fort is 14). Good use of Memory of 1000 lifetimes! (Snake eyes on 2d10? Ouch. :()

I guess there's no way for Chaku to angle the blast to catch the guys under the bridge, huh? That would be nice... but yeah, I guess the blast would have to go backwards. Too bad.

Whoops, apparently I left the pirhanas invisible on the map by accident. But they are in J10.[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]Yea, I cringed at the snake eyes too. The first roll was a 5 and a 1. I figured it was worth re-rolling and, well, you see where that went. Oi. All those dice with re-rolls, oath, memory, etc. and I rolled like 4 or 5 1s. I wanted to bash my head on the desk.[/sblock]

Papolstaanas jumps to his feet once more and sneezes violently, poisoned blood spraying out of his nose. He moves deliberately around the dwarf and stabs at the pale man. A sudden gust of wind blows a shower of leaves over the bridge. One clings to the side of the dwarf's face; another to the pale man's forehead. They remain oddly suspended, as though held by an invisible finger.

[sblock=actions]Not much I can do for Kaeysari unfortunately. Unless Jynxx wants to go swimming with the pointy fish, I don't know what can be done.

Font of life save vs poison: 1d20=15 success.

Move: get up.

Move: to J13.

Minor: shifty--shift to I14.

Free: mark dwarf H (override Kaeysari's mark) and pale man.

AP: gale strike with student of the sword on pale man. Attack then damage: 1d20+7=19 2d6+3=11. If that's a hit, the dwarf takes 4 as well, and sliding takes place: Dwarf to J13, pale man to J14. (Just in case Cillani wants to AoE them. We're kind of getting killed over here.)

Save vs. slow: 1d20=15 success.

I cannot see dagger R, therefore he cannot see me! Right? Right?[/sblock]

Jynxx cringes as he sees Kaey fall, "Palp, keep her safe! I am coming!" Jynxx moves a step forward and launches an arrow at the dwarf near the Kobold. "Sister, stand firm and dispatch these men so that I may care for Kaey."

[sblock=Mechanics]

Jynxx will move to J0 and use Vicious Mockery on dwarf H at J14

Standard Action: Vicious Mockery 16 vs Will to hit, for 11 damage if it hits Vicious Mockery on Dwarf H (1d20+5=16, 1d6+5=11)

Minor: Use Majestic Word on Ciliani (so she can use a healing surge + 5 additional hitpoints).

I'm trying to figure out how to get there without dying myself... I WILL be withing 5 squares of you in two rounds.

[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]Gale strike does indeed hit (target AC is just 15), but triggers a reaction.

Glad you got rid of at least one of the ongoing damages, BenBrown... [/sblock]
The pale man seems to roll with the warden's blow, his body contorting strangely. He writhes away, moving low to the ground, slithering to place the dwarf between himself and the kobold.

[sblock=Reaction]Writhe: The pale man shifts to K12, and takes half damage from melee and ranged attacks until the start of his next turn.[/sblock]
[sblock=5 square gap -> 4 square gap]You know, when I made this map I didn't think through that the 5 square gap in the bridge would put characters out of range of healers on the other side. :-S It's making things even harder than I intended - it's also very hard for even the goliath to jump over (DC 25 to clear), also not what I intended.

Indeed, if this was a module playtest, I'd definitely reduce the gap to 4 squares. So if it does not offend anyone's sense of continuity too much, I'd be willing to just pretend it was only 4 squares all along, making the bridge extend into column 6, with the destroyed section starting in column 7. Perhaps it is another miracle from Merkari. :) (Jynxx still won't be able to get close enough to heal Kaeysari this round unless he double moves.)[/sblock]

[sblock=Jynxx]See my previous post - I hadn't seen yours while I was writing it.

Since the gap is now only 4 squares, you'll be able to get to healing range of Kaeysari while staying on this side... but I think you're still 6 squares from there. Feel free to change your move action to bring you a little bit closer given the new situation.[/sblock]
[sblock=Cillani]Note also Jynxx's healing word allows you to slide one square, if you wish.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Oy, as much as it sucks, I think things should stay as is and we just deal with it, since a lot would have changed if the bridge had always been only a 4 square gap. Maybe IC will be nice to repay us.

If the bridge had extended to row 6, I would have Stones Enduranced, laughed off the minions OA, and used my blast from the otherside of the minion, potentially killing all 4 in the 3x3 killbox. (There would be questions if the blast went around/through the bridge or not) Or just lept over gap and charged the dwarf.

I plan on getting over to the otherside on my next turn, and with either me or Kaeysari having the healing pot, it can buy some time for Jynxx to do what he has to do.

Ryry can do what he wants, it's his story, but I'm against changing an integral part of the fight mid-combat.[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]Well... if folks would prefer not to change the bridge gap, that's fine with me. I will definitely be awarding some bonus XP in that case, since it does increase the difficulty of the encounter fairly significantly I think.

Bah, I wish I had realized this earlier and just made the gap 4 squares to begin with. :( Please everyone let me know what you think. We will get it settled one way or the other before the next turn. For this turn it will remain unchanged.[/sblock]
