Creamsteak,

I did understand that the grid squares were at least 10', so I figured the running man would get there well ahead of me.

Yellow scarves - so these guard work for the guild. Have I seen guards like these at the mine entrance before? In full plate?

I don't know if I can see their faces, but I wonder if they appear to have their wits about them. Maybe the man in white charmed them. I'll keep an eye on them for that (Spot check) as I sneak past them, as I don't really want to spend time arguing about whether or not I'm allowed in the mine.

This is assuming that there are enough shadows that I can try to sneak past these guards. Once inside, if there are no light sources, I want to keep going until I have lost sight of the guards before pulling my candle out of my backpack and lighting it.

Spot check - having trouble with dice, will try to add it in a new post.

Creamsteak,

Spot check to see if the guards are behaving naturally (or might be acting weirdly)... or Sense Motive if that would be more appropriate. Spot +4, Sense Motive +5.

Jagos: When looking outside, you see two trails of footprints and kicked up sand that appear quite fresh, as in made within the last moment. Does Jagos go upstairs, or outside?

CCamfield: The guards usually wear medium armor and carry less weapons, but this equipmen is housed in the barracks in case this mine was ever attacked. If it was, the majority of the loyal guild guards believe they would fight to the death, and are armed to do so. It would be unusual but available when needed.

You can judge that the guards appear unusually stoic. These two are named Biaust and Arngrim. Though they were tough sorts, the two of them usually talk through their enire shifts, and they seem quite still right now. It would be fairly difficult to move past them, as they are very close to the wall, but you could try to slide past them.

Jagos first tries to determine if whoever left could have seen the party from this location. After that he heads up the stairs to see if anyone is still there.

Creamsteak,

Do you want to drop using the spoiler tags?

I will try that time-honoured halfling method of distracting a guard's attention - throwing a rock. I'm sure there are lots of them around; I'll try throwing one high (so they won't see the throw) to land maybe 20 to 30 feet beyond the other side of the mine entrance. Regardless of their reaction, I'll then try to sneak in.

Jagos: It would be fairly easy to spot the party since the door was ajar, so it is quite possible.

When you head up the stairs, you see that the next floor contains tall whicker baskets with lids across all walls and stacked upon each other, and there are a few large painted yellow blobs of leather or something similar in the corner, perhaps containers for something liquid.

CCamfield: Neither guard seems to pay any attention to your thrown rock, they simply stand at attention armed with their weapons and armor.

Vanadan looks what's in the baskets.

ooc: Search +4

Since no one had an answer to his query, Grog looks
around for the source of the "manure-stench".

EDIT: This includes looking up, in case the glitter-dust
came from above.

Well, if they're that sense-deprived, Marl will sneak past them into the mine, staying close to the wall.

OOC - Marl is trying to move silently (+9) and hide in the shadows (+11)
