(Adventure) Heroes of The Vesper Peaks (Uriel judging)

(OOC: See my sig. It's actually been maybe 8 days or so wherein I havn't had time.)

Surprise Round of Sorts (since they are already in action) is the movement of Marl and the Guards to within 30 feet of the prepared and waiting group. Immediately after that, actions occur.

Initiatives
Buster - 19
Grog - 18
Marl - 17
Jagos - 17
Jaret - 16 <===Current
Kunst - 12
Vanadan - 6
Arngrim - 3

The lead guard, weilding his halberd, suddenly charging fowards at Marl and tries to strike him (19 to hit, 8 damage) striking with raw power behind his weapon. Grog is the first to react, with drawn scimitar, and tries to hamper the full plate armored guard. He strikes, but he fails to hit them through their full plate armor. Marl is next, (I assume at least full defense, or retreat in this circumstance, since you've been hit, but reconcile this with me if I'm inccorect).

Jagos tries to knock the weapon out of Bust's hands, (nat 20 + mods), the guard is disarmed of his halberd and it lands squarely on the ground near him. The halberd clatters a bit as it is ripped from it's weilder.

--- I'm stopping here in initiative order to give people a chance to correct me if I handled anything improperly, and so the next actions can be taken with the current events taken into consideration ---

Edit: Please note attack modifier, armor class, current hit points, and damage for attacks in your posts if you are engaging. This allows me to update faster and often after individual actions rather than waiting for everyone.

OOC, I hoped that by tumbling and running I would be able to make some distance from the guards... I'm not sure that was clear, but maybe it wouldn't have been more than what they could close in a charge anyhow.

As Jagos sweeps in with his rapier and disarms Biaust, Marl tries to tumble away from the fight and then clutches at his chest wound, his face going white as his leather becomes soaked with blood.

He's disabled, so getting out of the way seems the best thing to do. P.S. Tumble + 7

[OOC: Vanadan gets +7 (+3 Dex, +4 Improved Initiative) to his initiative roll so he can't actually get six for his initiative (8-27) :) ]

The gray elf reloads his crossbow and tries to hide in the shadows [Hide +3].

Grog attempts to hit the second guard after he comes through the door.

(+6 attack, 1d6+4 damage, 18-20/x2 crit, AC 19, HP 12)

It would be 10 then, as I ignored improved initiative apparently.

Jaret moves forwards, great axe in hand, and goes for Buster who's currently the only guard in the room. Jaret makes a mistake in anticipating Bust's movements, and completely misses the armored sentry (nat 1).

Kunst starts to cast a spell, preparing to finalize this action when the other guard enters the room.

Vanadan (on 10 :o) reloads his crossbow and moves in between a pair of large iron sided crates that provide shadow and cover.

The second guard, Arngrim, charges into the room weapon ready to bring down on anyone near him. Before he is able to get very far, Kunst releases his magic, but it seems that Arngrim is highly resistant to the effects of the spell. He leaves himself open though, as he has to step through threatened space to get himself into the room to fight properly. Grog takes his attack of opportunity (22, 20, confirmed critical, 17 damage). The wound is lethal, and should have put Arngrim out cold, but he does not falter, and moves fowards, attacking Grog who is nearest his position. His halberd connects, but not with the full force of the swing (23 to hit, 3 damage).

Buster, without fear of leaving himself open, draws a shortsword from his side. He holds it up in one hand, and strikes at the nearby Jagos who disarmed him. He is dodged or deflected by Jagos, but maintains his steadfast stance.

Grog tries his weapon on Arngrim, but the sentries full plate is hard to hit through. Arngrim seems unscathed by the attack.

OOC: What do you mean highly resistant? There's no spell resistance for the spell and the boots are automatically affected, he just makes a Reflex save to avoid falling. It also says it should be adjusted accordingly and gives an example of someone charging having little chance to avoid the effect. Did he make a balance check? Just seems like an odd way to describe him keeping his balance when his shoes all of sudden become greased.

He had a natural 19 on the reflex save (before bonuses), and charging into the room was not taking a charge action. He entered the room normally. Edit: It might not have been clear without a grid (I chose not to do one for this combat because it seems straighforward to me), but I think it would have been impossible to charge anyone but his ally, as Grog was nearest the entrance and has a wall between himself and where Arngrim started.

Does this mean Grog's crit didn't hurt him or did I get in a second
swing?

The first attack was an attack of opportunity (in order to move into the room and negate the partial cover provided by the wall between you and him had he just stepped in, he had to move through your threatened space. Grog gained his normal attack after that, so your AOO critted, but the other attack missed due to the armor).
