Tandi, seeing Cade charge forward, runs after him. If these negotiations went sour, he would need help. "My friend is right, outnumbered as you may be, you clearly outclass these beings. We will not stand idly by as you slaughter them for some imagined slight. Now if you have the honor you speak of, then you will cease this wanton massacre and explain your actions."

"That sounds like a threat to me," Cade says. "You attack them, but not me. Why is this?"

 

[Rystil Arden]

"Because you are not attacking us as they are, and you come with outsiders. Thus, it would be unwise to act before knowing the situation."

 

[Bront]

Cade nods, realizing he is doing the same thing. "I still ask you to accept quarter of these folks. Or at least offer it. If you offer an they do not accept, their fate is no one's but their own. But if you speak to us in good faith, and are truely honorable, you can do at least that much."

 

[Rystil Arden]

"We will not take quarter. I could list to you the names of those these halflings have killed and I'm sure you will not care, outsider, but I have zij to avenge them. Even if they would accept quarter, they would just attack again whenever they find an advantage. In this way, we kill our own if we don't kill them."

"Brother! Don't make peace with them--they will kill you just for being a halfling! Join us, you and your vassals can defeat them, and then we shall feast tonight!"

*The humans slay more of the halflings, including the girl who kept calling out to Cade. The human girl who approach the fallen comrade touches the wounds from the halflings, and there is a soft light as his body knits and heals, causing him to awaken woozily. Meanwhile, the halflings slash and injure some of the humans, piling up on one of them and stabbing until she stops moving. Scun has to sweep his cone, and he senses the presence of evil, though not anything else.*

"Killing in battle is understandable, but the price of murdering innocent children is death, and there can be no exceptions. Anyone with an ounce of vhal would place the noose himself."

Tandi understands zij. She knows that it is a holy oath, as her own people have something similar. She speaks to Cade, near her. "I know zij. These people are honor bound to complete this mission and try as we might, they will not be convinced otherwise. At least not by words." Frustrated, she makes a decision. She looks to see if any of the halflings are children and if so, she will move to protect them, otherwise if any of her friends get involved in the battle she will move to protect them as well.
