"I'm so sorry I can't be of more help," Zarindas replies, sitting down impotently in a hard wooden rocking-chair as he covers his face with his hands in shame.

"Please don't be upset with Daddy, Master Scun--he really wants to help, but I would be ever-so-grateful if you didn't ask him to default on the loans...I don't think we would have anywhere else to go," Alyx implores.

Anton looks around and then at Zarindas, "Do not worry, I think we can make do with what we have."

I have only 43 gold pieces, but with somac's generosity, we should be able to acquire a wagon, some mules, and enough provisions for the journey. Scun, while a extradimensional container of some sort would be ideal, I'm afraid we could not afford one that could carry enough provisions for all of us, much less have enough left over to stock the very provisions we need. Concerning the wagon breaking down in the desert, does anyone have any skill in woodworking? I know from my father the blacksmith that wagons are made to be repaired on the road, though I followed other paths and did not acquire the skill to do so. Regardless, we can make do with normal travelling rations and on foot until we have to strike out into the wilderness, but I would like to have a plan in place and money set aside for when we will need it.

OOC:
Currently the money on the table is :
Somac 443
Cade 20
A'jardin 43
Tandi 5
Anton 104

for a total of 615gp, which I believe is enough to get two mules and a wagon and 3 1/2 months of rations with a bit left over(total of 576gp, which is what Rystil said for two horses, wagon, and rations, but minus the cost of the horses and add the cost of two mules). Two people have not said how much they have (or how much they are willing to part with, which is also fine in my book). Unless the remaining two have about 400 gp between them and are willing to spend it, it looks like a pair of mules is the way to go.

If you don't like having all your eggs in one basket, we could get two mules and two carts instead of two mules and a wagon, or even three mules and three carts, which would cost a bit more, but we could lose a cart and keep going. Also though, this would require multiple drivers, and I don't know how many of the characters have handle animal.

Overall, I'd like to get two mules and two carts if anyone besides Cade has Handle Animal and two mules and a wagon if he's the only one with that skill. It's simple, relatively cheap, and gets us on the road.

ooc: We'd also save money by hunting for food, instead of buying rations. That isn't figured into the number Rystil gave us

My assumption is that we need to plan for the worst (long travel time across the desert, can't find food in the desert). Remember, 3.5 months of rations only gives us about 1.5 months travel time into the desert (have to turn around at that point so we can be sure to make it back!)
Until we reach the desert we can be pretty confident of getting some food from hunting and towns, but when we start moving through the desert it's time to stock up. Worst case if we buy too much food, we sell it back, worst case if we don't get enough, we all die or we don't get the orb because we had to turn around.

ooc: I thought that figure, before, included travel before the desert. I don't think it'd take a month to get to the place, but we could possibly find more information when we get closer.

(OOC: If worst comes to worst and you find yourself needing provisions (this assuming the goal is very far in the desert, which it might not be), you could also continue past your goal to Ignissus and restock :))

Does anyone know if the prices of these supplies will be the same when we reach a town bordering the desert? I am hoping they will at least be similar enough for us to afford the supplies when we get there.

OOC: mostly I just want to get going with the plan of getting 3.5 months worth of supplies when we reach the edge of the desert, including mules and carts.

"I'm sure Scun and I have enough to cover the extra costs. Seems to me that the time for talking is done, and the time for going has come, as my pop always says. I would like to make a couple purchases before we leave, shall we meet at the Inn in about an hour?"
