OOC: (I never did get an answer as to what to do with Alton. I'd hope he can come along, and if there's something I can do to help him deal with the heat, it'd be nice to know. I have Handle Animal, so that might help me know)
(OOC: Alton should be able to come along, although he will need some extra food and his heavy fur will make him a bit more uncomfortable in the heat (though he will be completely protected from Sunburn)

OOC: Cool. If we're going at night, the heat shouldn't be as much of a problem, and durring the day, he'll be kept by me under the cover of tents and such. Probably have to get him a bit extra water too to help him cool down.

(OOC: Sounds fair to me :))

ooc: I think our employer needs to front us some money for costs, to be realistic. We're supposed to take some epic desert trek just on promise of up to a certain amount with no minimum amount mentioned for success? Ideally the guy would just buy us a type 1 bag of holding and we could do without a wagon or the horses completely and just carry food and survival supplies in the bag. Then at the end, the bag could be considered part of the reward, or returned to the guy.
ooc: also, the bag of holding is very tough to divide into 8 people, so it'd just cause more problems. it'd also reduce everyone's gold count at the end. then again, no one's forced to go on this trip.

Cade says "So, how do we propose going about doing this? We should get moving soon."

OOC: We need to decide something and run with it. If someone wants to ask for money ahead, go for it. Otherwise, we've now begun metagaming, and need to get back IC and on track.

ooc: I'm for the horses/wagon idea, which comes out to 120gp per person... although I only have 104 gp. Let's travel to a city nearby the desert before we get all of that, thoguh. Before then, Somac and Anton can hunt for food to cut costs...

(OOC: Sounds good. I'll wait to hear a majority (5/8) and then we're all set to adventure! Welcome aboard folks :))

OOC: Cart and horse is fine. Hunting for food is probably a good idea. We might need some money up front for supplies, which would probably be good to ask, though Cade won't, nor is he the person to ask.

ooc: I vote ask for some part of the money up front. Many members of the party can't afford the supplies they will need. I also strongly prefer the idea of the bag of holding over a wagon.

My vote is for the horses and wagon. I can't nearly make my share of the payment (I can only make a mere 43 gp contribution.) though I'm fine with owing some money to the others.

Concerning using a bag of holding, Assuming the water per day weighs the same as rations per day (wich is far on the light side), that is 480lbs of rations and water for the group per month, which would require at least a Type II bag, which costs 5,000 gp, and that's just for one month. The bag is right out.

If we come up short on money, we can switch to donkeys, which will increase the travel time by %33, but decrease the cost by 384 gp. Remember though we would likely be able to sell the horses at the end of the trip.
